This review is from: Shadowings (Selected works of Lafcadio Hearn's first edition)
Florid fin-de-siecle Nipponophile rhapsodizes on Japanese mythology and culture. From ghost tales to cicadas' song ("semi no koe") to an exploration of the 'yobina' (Japanese women's names), Hearn gives an empassioned, lyrical perspective on it all. Originally published in 1898. Lots of fun to read.
