I gave this album five stars ....because they wouldn't let me give it six!

Michael Stanley does it again with his latest effort. Possibly the best singer song writer that you have never heard of.

As a native Clevelander and Gen Xer, I have had the pleasure of enjoying the talent Mr. Stanley since way back in junior high school when music was sold on vynal discs and cassete tapes. In the late Seventies and early Eighties a North Coast summer would not be complete without an excursion to Blossom Music Center for one of MSB's legendary performances under the stars. Winter would never have been tolerable without a new Michael Stanley Band album under the tree and a trip to The Coliseum at Richfield to gorge yourselves on some true Midwest Rock-N-Roll. They would pack the house with overflow crowds setting attendance records that to this day have never been broken. In NorthEast Ohio Billy Joel, John Couger, Cheap Trick and even REO Speedwagon OPENED for MSB. They where and are that good! I suggest you sample some of their early work, most are available for download here on Amazon.

I recently 'rediscovered' Michael and his newer work after enjoying a Michael Stanley concert after a Cleveland Indians game in June. Once again I am being blown away by what seems to be a limitless supply of great music and lyrics.

The first Five songs could all be rated as five stars and this is just the beginning. Real standouts on the album are 'It's All About Tonight', 'Brand New Day', 'When She Falls', 'I'm Not Finished Loving You' 'Come On Down' 'Skinny Jeans, and the incredible 'I Am You' ' & 'Shadowlands' The entire album is outstanding, not a clunker in the entire 13 song album.

If you are a long time MSB/Michael Stanley fan or simply someone looking for some good music, do youself a favor and buy this album. Once you hear it, I predict you will soon own all of Michael Stanley's music.

"So refreshing" is the only way to describe this album. I've enjoyed Mr Stanley ever since his first album so many years ago...and then of course the Michael Stanley Band. Shadowland is a gem....it's been a long time since I've enjoyed an album this much....if I'd be using a turntable, the album would well and truly be worn out by now, not to mention the stylus. Thanks Michael for what I would classify as a masterpiece.....and for heaven's sake don't make us wait so long for your next outing!

It's been 27 years since I heard from Michael Stanley. On his new release "Shadowland", Michael hasn't lost anything when he was putting out hits in the the early 80's. I think Michael Stanley fans will like this. It's just good to have him back, good heartland rock! Best cuts: "It's All About Tonight", "A Good Idea At The Time", Maybe" and "My Brand New Day".
