The film Shadowlands is my favorite love story, particularly because, like real life, this little story is messy. Everything doesn't work out fine in the end.
While watching the film, Fenton's music is a perfect complement to the heart wrenching narritive. Only when listening to the soundtrack on its own do you realize how much the music was a part of the emotion. This music grips you and carries your emotions back to those you felt during the film.

This soundtrack is one of my favorites. The melody is hauntingly beautiful and is introduced in various ways throughout the CD. I have played this CD many, many times and never tire of hearing it. I also loved the movie.

This is the best soundtrack I have ever been moved to purchase. The themes are incredibly beautiful and emotionally stirring. I've owned it for years, and never grow tired of hearing it. It is just as moving every time I listen. I believe this is George Fenton's finest work.

The score from "Shadowlands" is the most touching and beautiful that I have ever heard. It's wonderful from begining to end. I was determined to purchase the soundtrack as soon as I saw the film. Sadly, I did not see the film until years after it was made and the soundtrack was already out of print. But I keep hoping I'll find it somewhere.

I thoroughly enjoyed this soundtrack- it is beautifully constructed, moving, and carries with it the emotion of the film. At times I find it almost painfully beautiful- this soundtrack is a wonderful edition to any music library.

George Fenton deserves five stars for his perfectly rich and nuanced soundtrack for this excellent film. The entire soundtrack is simply elegant and deserves to be listened to time and again. The full range of emotion in the film is present in the soundtrack, from the sprightly 'Quartet in D' to the lush 'As A Boy, As A Man' to the restrained pathos of 'Silence'; but especially stunning is the opening title track 'Veni Sancte Spiritus', featuring The Choir of Magdalen College and Daniel Cochlin as soloist. Perfectly executed, I never tire of hearing this track, which for a long time I mistook for an authentic classical chant. Simply beautiful!
