5.0 out of 5 stars One Of Christian Pops Best, April 17, 2007
This review is from: Shadowlands (Vinyl)
I was just looking for some of my favorite Christian Pop music from the 80's and ran across this disc. I've noticed that many may not remember this great artist earlier work before now settling into a more mellow and praise and worship style. I got to know Sheila Walsh as a teenager listening to Christian Rock radio in 1982. Sheila came on the Christian music scene with a distinct sound that was not heard previously in Christian music. Heavy with synthesizers and a new wave/techno sound, overall was what drew me to this artist. She went on to record one of my favorite albums "War Of Love" 1983 (I wish Sparrow Records would re-release this gem) and many other records throughout the 80's, mixing the same synthesized new wave/rock and pop. Shadowlands was a change in sound for Sheila, mixing more of a pop/dance sound but keeping the sound overall synthesized and hot. I remember songs like "What Do You Know" (That I Don't)and "Valley Of Tears" both songs could have easily been mainstream radio hits. It amazes me that CCM hasn't given this artist her due props as being a pioneer in Christian pop music and who put out some of the edgiest Christian music of the 80's. New Sheila Walsh fans will probably be surprised of her earlier work. I love her early music. Sheila if you read this, I wish your would return to doing edgier music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Christian Rock-Pop from the 80's, June 4, 2009
This review is from: Shadowlands (Audio CD)
Sheila Walsh has been an underrated singer in the CCM world; and on top of that, is a shame that Myrrh records and Sparrow records, have not re-issued but 2 of her 80's albums into CDs. This is one of them.

But albums like "War of Love", "Triumph in the Air", "Don't Hide Your Heart", "Future Eyes" and "Say So" are as amazing as this one, and are long OOP and never remastered; I don't know why, those 2 record companies have remastered many other "less important" albums than these; it just beats me. But anyway, if you like Christian Music and you were fortunate enough to grow in the 80s', and you also have a passion for British Pop-Rock; this CD is right for you -if you can find it via private sellers and collectors-; songs like:

- Ship of Love

- The Hungry Night

- Valley of Tears

- Big Boy Now

and

- What do You Know (That I Don't)

Were as great as any other secular album of that era; especially since many people always compared Sheila to Shena Easton.

Super recommendable!!!!!!!!!!!!

The music is upbeat and uplifting. Also done very well. As for buying it - good luck. This was one of only a few on Amazon and I bought it used. The project was done over 20 years ago.
