5.0 out of 5 stars A worthy sequel to "Preying for Keeps"
With this second novel featuring Jack "Skater" Slater's team from "Preying for Keeps", Mel Odom once again brings us what a true SR novel should be like. If you play SR, and I assume you do, you can feel with the protagonists as they face everyday problems like gangers messing around while you have more important things to do or ending up being chased...

3.0 out of 5 stars A well paced adventure with a splash of emotion, Well done!
This story is the epitomy of every runner's life. Not only does the SR team have to deal with all the heat breathing down their necks, they have real personal problems as well. Odom does an outstanding job portraying the carachters as "real," and their handling of every situation as if their lives depended on it (because they usualy do) kept me turning the...

If you play SR, and I assume you do, you can feel with the protagonists as they face everyday problems like gangers messing around while you have more important things to do or ending up being chased down orktown's underground. This book captures the whole flavor of the SR world, there are runners, corps, the cops... all in one high-speed plot. But there's also a take on the runners' private life, something not often found. Get this book and you'll not only read a novel, but experience the SR world.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shadowrun's alive, December 8, 1999
This review is from: Shadowrun 27: Headhunters (Paperback)
In my opinion, Headhunters is quite a good book since the author manages to make the runners have personal problems and still have them look like professionals. What I didn't like, however, were the conversations between Skater and Archangel - these are not the kind of conversations that any real person would actually deal in. Apart from that, Headhunters is certainly one of the Shadowrun books that creates the most atmosphere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good SR Novel, September 11, 1998

This review is from: Shadowrun 27: Headhunters (Paperback)
Certainly one of the better Shadowrun novels. The SR team shows a bit more (meta)humanity than most and you get too see them as real people who have their own real problems and issues. I like how well-thought out and planned ever run made by Slater is. Excellent action. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, gives a real feel for the SR world., October 28, 1999

This is a great book, first time Shadowrunners should really look into reading it as it provides great Ideals. I love how Mel Odom got the SR jargon down to the last Frag & Slitch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best potential for adaptation to film., July 28, 1999

This review is from: Shadowrun 27: Headhunters (Paperback)
From the first paragraph, non-stop action in a flurry of heart-stopping images. Other than the first three books in the Shadowrun series this is probably one of the best stories to date. Jack Skater isn't invincible. He's not superman. And this comes across to the reader.
