5.0 out of 5 stars What every Shadowrun Campaign should be...
I will preface by saying that I am a HUGE Mike Stackpole fan... and this book is why. Way back in 'the day' many of these stories appeared in the late-lamented mouthpeice of GDW.. a magazine called Challenge. I picked up every issue in hopes that I would get a new story about Wolf.

This anthology collect those stories and more into a chronological set of case studies...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This was easily the most disappointing Shawdowrun "novel" I've read. In fact, it's not a novel, it's an anthology prettied up to look like a novel for purely commercial reasons. (The author admits as much in an Afterward).

Because the chapters aren't really linked, the book is more of a collection of gaming scenarios than a novel. The thing I like...

This anthology collect those stories and more into a chronological set of case studies by Dr. Raven's number ONE aide (ala Doc Savage) Wolfgang Keis... The stories have a lusterous pulp-novel field set in the high-tech magic of Shadowrun... each one carries a sense of wonder and amazement and overflows with likeable characters that set you to cheering in every installment...

In the words of Oliver... "More please?"

5.0 out of 5 stars The very best Shadowrun novel I've read, January 8, 2001
This review is from: Shadowrun 32: Wolf and Raven (Paperback)
I don't know what the one-star guy was on when he read the book. Maybe he just hates Shadowrun. I've read perhaps 20 Shadowrun novels, and of those, this is the best. In fact, not only is it one of my favorite Shadowrun books, it's one of my favorite books, period. The entire Raven team is great, and I eagerly await any more adventures the author may pen in the future. Go with the majority this time. This once, they're right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Complete Shadowrun Experience, April 20, 2004
This review is from: Shadowrun 32: Wolf and Raven (Paperback)
This book is actually a set of short stories woven together as plot twists into one longer tale. These continuous arcs offer the reader exposure to every aspect of Shadowrun such as the return of magic, advances in technology, and cultural climate of Shadowrun's universe. Wolfgang Kies and Kid Stealth are two of the most memorable and well-developed characters in Shadowrun fiction. This book is so good, any fan of Sci-Fi Fantasy would enjoy; even readers totally unfamiliar to Shadowrun. If you ever wondered how the SOTA-elite-Delta-grade runners work and play, check out this novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book, I enjoyed it very much., January 4, 1999

As shadowrun books go this was one of the best I've read since the first trilogy. Although a full novel would have been better then an anthology, the stories were very intresting.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS is Shadowrun at it's finest, November 15, 2001

If you want to play Shadowrun, read this book first. THIS is what every runnerteam should strive for.

As always, Stackpole gets the essence of the universe he is stepping into without being in your face about it, and then putting realistic people into it. If for nothing else, read it for Kid Stealth's sense of humor. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars My latest book., February 23, 2001
This review is from: Shadowrun 32: Wolf and Raven (Paperback)
This book is not my first Shadow-run novel, and it'll not be my last, that much is sure. Great plot, cool way of telling the story in couple o'short stories, this book seems great, but the ending leaves a bad aftertaste in my Brain. Sure, nobody wants a totally happy ending in a Shadowrun book, that would'nt be right. But finishing this book makes me long for a sequel, probably because I'm a bit Lycantrophic myself, or because I really enjoyed this story around Wolf Kies and Lynn Ingold. Maybe the ending would've tasted better if SHE became a shadowrunner herself, but thats just he way it is...you still here? GO BUY THE DREADED BOOK ALREADY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent story, awesome characters., May 2, 1999

Another smash by Mr. Stackpole. I enjoyed the first person story line, and Wolf is the man! It came together nicely at the end. Only complaint is on the back it leads you to believe the preview on the back is the story, where as its only a small part.

5.0 out of 5 stars a definite must-read for fans for Shadowrun and M. Stackpole, October 6, 1998
This review is from: Shadowrun 32: Wolf and Raven (Paperback)
although the storylines in this book don't relate any major change in the Shadowrun-universe, the characters are incredibly well-developed and draw the reader into the plot - as usual, M. Stackpole's talents will motivate readers to finish the book, no matter how late they have to stay out of bed to complete it - even for those not that familiar with Shadowrun, these stories are a definite must-read

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection of Stories, April 7, 2000

This review is from: Shadowrun 32: Wolf and Raven (Paperback)
I've been playing SR since 1st Ed. and reading the novels almost as long, and Wolf and Raven is definatly one of the best. I'm not a big fan of shamans in general, but Wolf was absolutly great. All of the characters were engaging and evolved as the stories progressed. I for one can't wait for more adventures from Wolf, Doc Raven and the rest of his group of aides.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Read, September 18, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Shadowrun 32: Wolf and Raven (Paperback)
I have always been a big fan of the Wolf & Raven stories ever since they were run in the magazines. This is an anthology, and not a novel, but that has its advantages. The action is quick, and there is a lot of humor. The plot does not really build like in most novels, but the author gives a lot of emphasis on the basics of surviving in the shadows. This novel has improved my SR games dramatically. It is an exciting and entertaining book to the end.
