5.0 out of 5 stars Oldschool game review, September 27, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Shadowrun (CD-ROM)
I love this game.

I first started playing it back when "Sega Channel" was prominent, and since then have ordered it off e-bay and kept it around.

The story is set in the future, where the main character is trying to solve the mystery of his brother's death. It starts off a little slow and very difficult, as you have very little firepower to ward off attackers (which will jump you at random) Sometimes you can outrun them, sometimes you have to stay and fight.

The premise of the game is to go on "shadowruns". Basically, you're a mercenary called a "shadowrunner", and different employers will offer you a variety of different missions from delivery of packages, search and destroy missions, escort missions, etc. This will earn you money to upgrade you equipment. This is where the game shines. Once you get upgraded and earn enough money, you can "buy" other shadowrunners to follow you around and fight with you. It's all real time except when you hit the equipment menu to change items or equip a grenade. You can also hack into computers, disabling security cameras and alarms, unlock doors, etc.

This was one of the first "choose your own adventure" games so to speak.
People will confront you, and you will be given the opportunity to react several different ways (Think Knights of the Old Republic).

The whole plot of the game is pretty mediocre, but then again, most older games aren't played for the plot, they're played for the gameplay. And this game is very fun.

2.0 out of 5 stars meh, August 18, 2006
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Shadowrun (CD-ROM)
When i played this game i found no real plot to it nor was there much fun to it...HOWEVER there is ONE little bit of interest. Jacking your character into the matrix of cyberspace. THat is where this game shines in my opinion the graphics for that is like 3 tiems what the rest of the game is like . However if you wish true rpg story and what not get the super nintendo version of this game. Great storyline in THAT one
