4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Xbox Live...
Customer Video Review     Length:: 0:45 Mins
The regular game has no overarching storyline and quickly becomes boring - however, it is a lot of fun on xbox live. Great graphics and fun weapons & spells make this a good first person shooter alternative to Halo3.

3.0 out of 5 stars Underated and no longer overpriced
I was at first quite hesitant to pick up this title as the online reviews from gamespot and ign were none too flattering to say the least. However, I kept hearing from groups of friends that had picked it up that they were playing it every night without fail. I picked it up on the cheap and was instantly in love. The different races and magic/technologies let you...

OK Alot of people say this game sucks because of the multiplayer...Well you should research something before you buy it! Online play is so addictive I cant wait to go home and turn it on! Its the most balanced shooter I ve ever seen! And playing as a team brings a tear to my eye! LOL
Especially when I can resurrect someone, I love the commradary this game evokes! And did I metion its VERY ADDICTIVE and a hell of alot of fun! Love the magic bits too! And how you can choose what type of character you can play online. Well worth the 30 bucks I spent on it! Rent it and you will see how addictive this game is! So TREE UP people!

4.0 out of 5 stars Some good some bad, June 4, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Shadowrun (Video Game)
Most of what folks are posting here is true... There is not single player mode (other than playing "Solo" matches against bots and the training "missions"). There are 9 maps and 3 game types.

I don't quite understand the frustration people are having over getting the game home to realize there is not single player mode, though. It has been widely reported for months (since the game was announced) that this would be a multiplayer only game. You should always research a game prior to purchasing it.

I find the game quite fun, and entertaining. I am a huge fan of the original pen and paper version of Shadowrun, and while this game does not stick terribly close to some of the "rules" of that version, it does an admirable job of presenting what I think of as a small slice of the Shadowrun world and mythos.

I am a FPS junkie, and this game does a lot to keep me interested. I really like the options I have on how to equip my character with the different spells, tech, and weapons. It is amazingly cool to be able to glide into the air teleport through a wall, take perch on top of a statue, and snipe the opposing team. Then I glide off my perch, back through the wall, and escape before they can retaliate. Or, even better, when under fire summon a minion to attack my foe as a distraction while I teleport in behind them to take them out from behind.

I like the ability to purchase new items between rounds. To me this seems fresh and new, but apparently that is because I did not play Counterstrike. Also, this serves to heighten the intensity from round to round, since each character is buying and employing new/stronger abilities each round.

Because the game is round and objective based it does require teamwork. The teamwork isn't as essential as it is in a game like Gears Of War, but it does help to work together. This is not a Halo clone, where you just run, shoot, die, respawn, repeat. Shadowrun requires much more strategy and teamwork. I feel as though this (along with games like Gears Of War) is one of the early steps we are seeing to the next evolution of FPS gaming. The Halo-type game is fun, but to me feels dated with its lack of innovation, and same-old-same-old feel. I prefer Shadowrun over the Halo 3 beta hands down.

However, this is not a perfect game by any means. FASA is having a very hard time getting their servers to cooperate. Many people, myself included, are having a hard time getting into matches. Most of the time a match is found within a couple of minutes, but there have been times when I have waited 5-10 minutes without a match being found before I turn it off and go to play Gears Of War. I have seen online that there have been some people that haven't been able to get into public matches since the game was released 5 days ago. FASA has stated they are working on the problem.

I do wish there were more gametypes, but what is there will be enough until an update comes out in a few months. The matches are all varied, since there is such a large variety of buildouts for characters, etc. I have had no 2 games that played the same.

My biggest complaint about this game is the inability to insure that your party stays together when you go into a match. I can have myself and 7 of my buddies together in a party and when we go to join a public match we will be split up in order to "balance" the teams. You don't even have the option to switch up who is playing on what team. The computer decides for you. This is frustrating and should be addressed.

In short, if you are an FPS fan and would be interested in something new that requires a little more thought than a straight forward run and gun I recommend picking this up. You may want to rent first to make sure this is for you, but I enjoy it very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Halo, GOW, COD4, and any other FPS., November 5, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Shadowrun (Video Game)
Shadowrun for the 360 DOES NOT FOLLOW the snes pen and paper RPG format. It is an innovative FPS, that takes magic spells, tech upgrades, and races that force you to work as a team in a collective effort to take down the opposing team.

If you are a fan of a good FPS, this is a must have for your collection. All tech, and all magic have a counter the other team can use against you. Most games lack good balance, everyone will rush to get the weapon they want, and once you get these weapons, you are unstoppable. With shadowrun, prior to each round, you BUY your tech, magic, and weapons. You earn money based on damage done, teamwork, and capture. The better you do, the more you can buy.

Anytime I get myself into a new FPS, once i get bored with it, I end back playing shadowrun again. I bought this game at release, so I spend $60.00 on it and it was worth every penny. Now with the prices so low, it is definitely a game that any person into a good competitive FPS should own.

All the negative reviews talk about the lack of a single player campaign, but in reality MOST people put way more hours into the multiplayer than the single player.

Also, the negative reviews are incomplete. They bash the game because "you only have three slots, but 20 tech and magic." These statements are all false, within the game there is an option called "quick cast" which allows you to use some tech and most of your magic without assigning them to the slots. The three slots are for FREQUENTLY used items such as teleport (allows you to teleport through any wall in the direction you are heading), glider (allows you to fly short distances), wired reflexes (makes you faster, speed boost), smoke (makes you invincible to gunfire and damange), gust (pushes enemies away -kills person in smoke) etc.

most of the reviews you read, are gonna be from ill-informed noobs who played the game for only a couple hours, got pissed of, cuz they weren't any good at it. When you aren't good at something you tend to not like it. This is the kind of game where it takes time to learn all the skills, and the community are generally friendly and passionate about the game. These are the kind of people who will help you learn how to play the game, and give you the tips and tricks to be successful.

Give the game a chance, put some time into it, and you won't be able to put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONLINE PLAY, October 9, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Shadowrun (Video Game)
This is not a game to play by yourself. Online with up to 16 people it is awesome. Many who buy it and play it for a few days become addicted to it and drop all games. You can customize your guy through every match to find the combos that work for you and allow you to adapt to the other teams tactics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but not at full price., September 23, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Shadowrun (Video Game)
This game is a very well put together team shooter. It winds up being a little bit too no-frills, but if you can catch it on a sale, it is a great value. Do not spend sixty dollars on this game. There are only nine maps, and no story mode to speak of. The bots do a passable job, but nothing matches human player. Adding the abilty to teleport, revive dead teammates and fly changes the gameplay in fresh and enjoyable ways.

4.0 out of 5 stars SOOOO Much Fun, May 31, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Shadowrun (Video Game)
This game could be considered a breakthrough being the first cross-over game between the Xbox 360 and the Windows Vista platform. I have read reviews about people that are mad b/c they have to upgrade to vista to play this on the pc but you know what Xbox users had to upgrade to Xbox 360 to play so why the complaints?

Besides that the game is super fun. If your looking for a in depth RPG based off of the paper and pen Shadowrun then this isnt it. This is however a super fast paced hectic shoot em up.

Graphics are pretty good. The maps are great but I think some of the character and magic animations could have been better. Sound is good but there is so much gunfire and explosions that that is all you will hear.

The concept is absolutly something fun and new. You can pick between humans (best all atround), trolls (meat shield), Elves ( fast moving shock troopers), and Dwarves ( best magic users).

Before the game starts you get money to buy certain magic spells, weapons, or technology. You start off with a low amount of money but after each round you get more based on how you did during the previous round i.e. how many kills, if you ressurected teammates, etc...

By the end of the set of rounds your team should have about every available power and if the team works together a very powerful force.

There are however some drawback hence the four stars in overall. One being that there is absolutly no solo game besides the extensive tutorial. If your not on Xbox live then this will be no fun for you. You can play against computer "bots" but it nowhere near as fun.

SOme of the times you think that you have a great combination of skills and you die within 5 seconds of a well placed sniper shot. But hey thats how it goes.

Anyways super great game and all around fun to play. If you love xbox live get this game, Youll love it.

What can I say, this is a fun game that happens to play really well and balanced. It's a great competitive multiplayer game even if there really isn't much of a story mode. It's 100% worth it's price. Shadowrun 2 anyone?

I bought this game for the Xbox at the suggestion of a friend. I recieved it in excellent condition, no cosmetic damage and in original packaging. The game itself played fairly well, it's a decent fps at best though. The graphics are mediocre, and the controls are clunky, but, after a while you can get into it and the game can be enjoyable. Overall, it's a decent game, and a good buy for a low price, but I doubt I would have bought it had it been the price of a new 360 game.
