Rockin' Melodic Black Metal, September 20, 2005
This review is from: Of Shadows: and the Dark Things You Fear (Audio CD)
For those of you who have come to enjoy Children of Bodom, Norther, Kalmah, and other in this genre, let me say that Cryptic Wintermoon is right up there at the top with the others in terms of skill and presentation. Their ambiance is slightly darker and more gothic than others, but they know how to deliver a punch and hit you where it counts. This band is not some knock-off joke, they are the real deal. Whether it's fast, jackhammer blast-fests, mid-paced monsters, or slow, melodic grind-fests, this album will keep your senses reeling with a full spectrum of sounds, tempos, and atmospherics. Highly recommended.

Black as Frelling Night, Cold as the northernmost Scandinavian retreat - the album is filled with emotion and atmosphere. A must have for any melodic black metaller, specifically those interested in German Metal!!!
