Book Description

Shadows to Light is book 5 in the Shadows of Justice series and now
includes the BONUS short story, Leanore Makes a Deal

"Regan Black clearly has a talent for creating heroines who aren't afraid to kick some butt..." --Tanya C.

"I can sum this book up in two rocked!! ...a unique tale beautifully woven with paranormal entities and an ever thickening plot." 5/5 from Nikki of Close Encounters With The Night Kind
The year is 2096 and as part of a covert team searching for a missing government scientist, Jameson is tasked with staring at a laboratory building day in and day out. The boredom is overwhelming until the one woman he cannot forget, shows up in a place she should never be.
A supernatural healer, Mira escapes a trial of her peers only to be sent on an impossible mission: Rescue her scientist father from a madman who's using him to create bio-weapons. But she's no spy. On her own, with no real clues, she isn't sure where to turn.
Forced together by circumstance, Mira and Jameson enter an adventure that will push them to their limits - and quite possibly beyond.
"Move over Lara Croft--Jaden Michaels is the quintessential heroine of the 21st century, full of heart and totally lethal!" -- Bestselling romantic suspense author Debra Webb for Justice Incarnate

"Regan Black delivers! All the elements readers have come to expect from a 2096 novel- a kick-butt alpha female lead, an equally strong hero, and a gritty, fast-paced thriller."

"I enjoy this author's talent for detail in her plots, which adds to her futuristic settings and the depth of a mystery being unraveled. But, it is the witty banter between her characters, and artful telling of a love story that makes Ms. Black one of my favorite authors." -- Lisa Phillips, author of Obsession Everlasting, Knight Everlasting and Rogue Everlasting on Invasion of Justice

"Another great story by Regan Black. Not only a bang-up mystery/thriller, but a nice love story, too...story is outstanding. An overall great read!" --Kat Thompson 5/5 stars for Veil of Justice

"If you're a fan of old 1940's detective novels, or if you like film noir...I believe you'll like Tracking's just that flavor kick that's so unusual, I predict you'll want to come back for more." -- 5/5 stars from the Bookish Dame on Tracking Shadows

Fun & quick read. A lot of attention is suddenly focussed on Mira when her desire to heal her patients exceeds the healer community's desire to be unnoticed. Forced into hiding and at the same time, wanting to help her research scientist father, Mira is at the center of a lot of moving pieces. Everyone wants to take Mira's power.

Mira's power to heal and save her patients are kept well-hidden, but rumors always spring up and she's forced to move on. She keeps her heart and life closed off knowing she can't settle with anyone in one place. After a brief love affair with a soldier at on of her short-term medical jobs, everything blows up and she bumps back into the guy she can't stop thinking.

Luckily for Mira and the reader, Jameson couldn't stop thinking about that cute nurse, Mira, he had to leave behind after his special opps assignment ended. She pops on at the site of a building he's assigned to watch and she's in danger.

Once Jameson and Mira are reunited, the action really takes off. There are so many factions after Mira and her father and healers in general that it can get a little confusing, but Mira holds tight to Jameson and as their relationship strengthens, all the pieces of the story fall into place.

Lots of fun! Congrats to Regan Black for having so much fun as a writer and writing stories to let the readers who love paranormal romances escape into a fantasy that is intriguing, fast-paced and a good read!Shadows to Light (Shadows of Justice)

5.0 out of 5 stars A kiss is just a kiss, or is it? January 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The fifth book of Ms. Black's Justice Series, opens in the year 2094, in a combat zone of North Africa where Mira Luther is working as a triage nurse. When a group of soldiers bring a wounded man in, she recognizes technology that is unmistakably her father's work.

Fast forward to 2096 Chicago where Brent Jameson and his special forces team is in the middle of a very boring surveillance detail watching a building hoping for proof that someone was using it illegally. Mira and Jameson had met for a brief heart stopping moment years earlier and fate will once again bring them together.

Enforcers are after Mira for openly using her healing powers, a notorious mobster has kidnapped her father, the US military wants to reinstate her back into service, and she and Jameson can't seem to keep their hands off each other. Strap on your seat belts folks; once again Ms. Black is going to take you on a bumpy ride.

Right now I'm supposed to be reviewing the writing style and character development, the heck with that, just let me say WOW, WOW, and WOW. O.k. I've got that out of my system, on with the review.

After the above statement, I don't think I really need to say anything more about Ms. Black's writing style, it's tight and entertaining. On to the characters then. Mira is a healer who just wants to do her job. She doesn't consider herself as particularly brave or strong, or anything else that would make her a threat to anyone. She gets involved with the gang from the previous Justice books, and her self-confidence really goes out the window. Truth is, she really is brave, strong, smart and one kick butt healer. I liked her and was rooting for her from the beginning before I really knew her.

Jameson is, well, every girls dream really.

One kiss. One time. Never Going to See Him Again.

It seemed like a reasonable start and end to what should have been a five minute relationship in Mira's Gift, a short by Regan Black. Except readers clamored for more. I should know. I was one of them.

Shadows to Light continues the incredible journey through 2096 Chicago, where caffeine is illegal, the bad guys can get inside your head, and a woman who can heal with her touch is on the run and trying to save her father.

Along the way, she picks up Jameson, the man she kissed in a moment of weakness after she saved his brother's life. A kiss neither of them have forgotten. He's charged with protecting her. As much as any of Regan Black's kick-butt heroines need protecting.

Black's built another great romance into a fantastic urban fantasy adventure that includes shopping at Water Tower Place. And how many people can do that convincingly? Shadows of Light is strong as a stand-alone read, but better if you know the cast and crew from the whole series. (Plus, then you remember that we've met Mira in all the books!)

She saved his brother's life. Now it's time for Jameson to return the favor. And maybe, jut maybe, find happiness and help the world in the process.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Series!!!! April 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I can sum this book up in two rocked!! I am totally anal at starting a series from the first book, just because you can get lost in the sub-plots or miss clues. Not so in this book. The only hint that you maybe reading a series is the appearances of 4 more couples in a spot in the book. Otherwise it reads just like a stand-alone or the first book in the series.

Mira is a healer who continuously pushes the boundaries of her job. She is suppose to save people without drawing any attention to herself or her skills. So basically she is supposed to take injuries that were critical or decapitating and turn them into something that was easily treatable by a doctor. Miracles were not allowed in the order. So she travels, to different places, in different jobs, helping people but always alone. Until she shared a kiss with one lone solider that rocked her world.

How can one kiss change your life? It had been a simple job for Jameson. But one kiss with one extraordinary nurse had transformed him completely. He had dreams about her, even obsessed about her to the point that when she came strolling down the street around his new assignment, he swore he conjured her up. But what was she doing here? And how was it that she was more captivating then the last time they bumped into each other?

So this is the story. It is a unique tale beautifully woven with paranormal entities and an ever thickening plot. It moved along with absolutely no dry spells through Mira's growth and transformation to a completely new entity. Being a newbie to this series, I'm not aware if they explained certain aspects before, but I wasn't lost or confused and was able to jump right in. LOL...well fall right in.
