Don't judge...,
By Lynn Barry (Lynn Barry, author of "Puddles" and "Bjoyfl") - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shadow's Walk (Paperback)
The message is loud and clear in this age old tale of don't judge --in this case-- a cat by its colors... Author Ragan not only writes well; she draws well, too. This children's book is appealing to the eye as well as to the heart and soul of the reader. I already want more from this talented artist/author. BRAVO!

Delightful,
By A Customer
This review is from: Shadow's Walk (Paperback)
What a great children's book! Written in a flowing rhythm with clever rhymes, Ragan takes us along on a humurous romp following a fat cat named Shadow whose unfortunate coloring makes him look a lot like a big, fat skunk. The writing is cleverly done, and the art work is fun. I'm impressed by both Ragan's art work, and the publisher's printing on this book. I've passed this book around to the young children I teach, and they've all enjoyed it immensely, laughing at the cat and the silly people. Highly recommended.

"Shadow's Walk",
By
This review is from: Shadow's Walk (Paperback)
Just one look at the cover of "Shadow's Walk" and I knew this would be a delight. With catchy rhyme and colorful illustrations, Ms Ragan has captured the essence of Shadow and provides a believable snapshot of a town in chaos over a cat whose personality and apperance remind me of the popular 60's cartoon, "Pepe Le Peu". With its underlying message which celebrates the unique qualities of Shadow and a neighborhood's eventual acceptance of him, this book provides a way for parents and children to discuss these challenges and foster an appreciation for the many special attributes we all possess. "Shadow's Walk" is a book that not only parents will have fun reading to young children but early readers will pick up and enjoy again and again. Reviewed by Shannon Young

"My seven-year-old read and loved SHADOW'S WALK",
By
This review is from: Shadow's Walk (Paperback)
Reviewed by: www.roundtablereviews.comShadow, is a friendly cat whose coloring is similar to a skunk's, takes a walk in his neighborhood. His simple stroll turns into something much bigger, as everyone in the neighborhood runs for cover. While everyone plans to rid the streets of this "skunk" one neighbor named Bernie comes forth to set them straight. Written in a catchy rhyming pattern, my seven-year-old read and loved SHADOW'S WALK. Easy to read and understand, the illustrations are childlike and appealed to my daughter. She says she will read and re-read this story again and again. To me that is the true test of a book, we have many books that sit on our shelves having been read once, but few stay in our bedside pile of books she will read again and again. |
