SNAPPER has reissued a series of SUN RECORDS ROCKABILLY LEGENDS of which this is the first I bought because I have almost nothing by RAY SMITH. THE WHOLE SERIES IS well-packaged with a nice 12 page booklet with pics..sound quality is excellent considering when this was recorded. ONE OF THE LESSER KNOWN ARTISTS OUT OF THE SUN RECORDS stable and yet a fine rockabilly singer; this set truly rocks! I am reminded of JACK SCOTT,EDDIE COCHRANE, AND OF COURSE [EARLY] ELVIS. IF YOU LIKE ROOTS ROCK, WHICH THESE DAYS IS BEING BUNCHED UNDER THE CATEGORY 'AMERICANA'..(WHAT DOES THAT MEAN,ANYWAY?)..THIS IS AS AMERICAN AS YOU CAN GET! THE BEAR FAMILY CD BY RAY IS QUITE EXPENSIVE AND THIS OFFERS A PLEASANT AND FAIRLY PRICED WAY TO PICK UP SOME GREAT MUSIC...RECOMMENDED....BRITMAN46

Ray Smith was really one of the best rockabilly performers of his day and there are some killer tunes on this CD.

If you are a die-hard fan of obscure or somewhat forgotten rockabilly talent then you have to have this CD. Be sure to check out the song "Rockin' Bandit."

Sam Philips, fundador da lendária Sun Records, deixou como herança muito mais que Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich ou Johnny Cash. Nomes como Billy Lee Riley, Sonny Burgess, Warren Smith e Ray Smith também foram revelados no estúdio da Sun.

Este CD conta mais uma parte da história da gravadora mais importante da história do Rock. Vale como registro histórico. Ray Smith jamais chegou ao estrelato. Mas o som de Memphis e da Sun está registrado neste item.
