recently when the zen center i attend needed a new clock to time the sitting periods, i purchased the triple tell because of it's ability to signal set periods of time without making noise. the flashing red light is a perfect way to be informed that time is "up" without making any noise. now, rather than wonder how close we are to the end of the period, the timekeeper can just sit and wait until the light flashes.

I purchased this product for a person who is hard of hearing. The product states that it has a loud alarm as well as a vibrate mode. Unfortunately, the timer sound is too quiet even for those with normal hearing. This person is now relying on the vibrate mode to signal them that time is up.

This little device saves so much nagging my boys to "get back to work!" It beeps/flashes/shakes at regular intervals, just when I think their attention will wander. Love it!

My wife purchased this for me to use when meditating. The idea was to use the timer in vibrate mode as a gentle way to time and end meditation. The problem is that in vibrate mode -- with the flasher and beeper turned off -- the device sounds like a quacking duck when it vibrates and is clearly audible at 30 feet.

If you are considering buying this item because you want a silent timer, don't.

Finally, a quality product that allows me to create a much needed time structure without sending me throught the roof with a peace shattering alarm sound. Chaos meets order...a lovely marriage!

At my Orthopedics rehab center, they use this product and i find it very useful so i ordered one for myself to do my rehab exercises at home. It's easy to watch the countdown in seconds and minutes so i can alternate/rest every 10 seconds for the entire 2-5 minutes settings per exercise routine.

This is a great timer for our therapy sessions or for use with self-monitoring, behavior modification or DRO programs. It allows you to be discrete by having the option for either vibrate or the light. Of course, the sound is also useful when you want an audible alarm. The back has a magnet and a clip to attach to yourself or a clipboard, etc. Be careful when removing from jeans so battery case does not slip off (even so, batteries stay intact). Only negative comment is that they are not always available :( Otherwise, I've been using them for years and so do my therapists and not one has broken (even with being dropped!!). It's one of the best options out there!

This timer works wonderfully for our meditation group and several individuals have purchased it for their own use at home. The flashing feature doesn't seem to be available on other timers. It would be nice if it also had a clock feature, but it works very well as a timer. It is handy for kitchen use at home, especially if you want to go into another room and take the timer with you.

This Polder timer worked fine when I bought it two years ago.
Recently, the loud alarm grew softer and softer and now makes only a tiny noise difficult to hear.
Also, the vibrator or shaker alarm no longer works. This product is not durable.

This is a misleading name in that the sound tell doesn't work. If I hold this up to my ear with other signals silenced, it sounds like an excited cricket but isn't heard from more than a few inches. The flashing light probably has some special situation applications. The vibration seems to be the most 'vibrant' signal and can be heard if you are close to it and it is sitting on a hard surface. If you have it in your pocket or clipped to a shirt pocket, it is easily felt although the depth makes it feel bulky. If you plan to carry this in a purse, you are likely to miss signals but since I don't, this is speculative. If you are in another room when it signals, you probably won't hear it. The operation is simple and easy to comprehend. Generally, this has more pluses than minuses. If you prefer a strong sound signal, this isn't for you.
