1.0 out of 5 stars a big waste of time and money
I bought this stuff to stop the squirrels and mice from digging up my seeds and stealing all of my tomatoes, but it didn't help at all.

I moved into a urban rental property that had roof rats living in the shed and nesting in the oleanders surrounding the property. I spoke with a local pest control company who said to try this product before hiring anyone or using more costly products. They warned me that it works for 80% of people who try it, usually failing for people living in areas where the rats are already accustomed to living in very close proximity to preditors, which are coyotes in my case (apparently roof rats have no fear of house cats so their proximity to cats is irrelevant). They recommended I purchase cheesecloth (or stockings) and put golf ball size portions into the material, tie it off, and toss it in 10' increments wherever the rats were present. I put the cheesecloth balls in the shed, one ball in each oleander, and in the corners of the property. I have not seen the rats since. They have been gone for three months with no sign of them anywhere on my property or even my neighbor's property. It doesn't rain here much, so the product has not gotten wet since I put it in the bushes. I don't know if that is another reason the product worked so well but it does say to use it again after a few months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps mice out of the camper, October 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shake Away 3001003 3-Pound Rodent Repellent Granules (Lawn & Patio)
I bought and tried every repellent and remedy under the sun to keep mice out of my camper trailer. I tried bleach, I tried stuffing the openings with steel wool and covering vents that could be covered with tape when not in use, peppermint/spearmint oil combinations, bounce dryer sheets.....Literally every suggestion I had heard from other users that said it would work.. I tried them all. I bought the Shake away 3 pound container of rodent repellent granules and put them around the camper on the ground concetrating around the stabilizer jacks and the wheels. I set traps inside my camper. After I got two mice in the traps, I haven't had another mouse enter my camper trailer. I am 100% thrilled with this product. It has kept every mouse from entering my camper now for 2 months and I fought them all summer long. I haven't seen any mouse droppings or a single sign of mice. I still have traps baited with peanut butter and they are left untouched so I know that the mice are all gone and kept away now. I will continue to use this product. Surprisingly, the granules themselves do not emit a strong odor. I actually kept the lid which had a sprinkling of granules stuck to it and slid it under the built in sofa in the slide out of my camper and you can not smell it at all but I am sure the mice can! Now i don't have to rewash all of my dishes and bed linens every weekend that we use the camper because I can rest easily knowing that no mice have been in it. I don't even have steel wool plugging areas outside of the camper now where the refrigerater vents out. I would highly reccomend this product to anyone with mice or rats in their home, camper, trailer house, whatever the case may be. I will say that you have to be careful as the 3 pounds doesn't cover a very large area. It just barely went around my camper which is a 30 feet long pull behind camper trailer. However having said that, I did put quite a bit more of the granules around the parts of the camper that actually touch the ground just to be on the safe side. I will continue to order this product and reapply as needed and I will also be sprinkling this in and around my barn!!!! Fabulous product. I just wish it came in a bigger container for use in larger areas.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money, January 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shake Away 3001003 3-Pound Rodent Repellent Granules (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this stuff and paid a handsome fee. To ensure a hostile environment for the field mice thriving in my community, I backed-up this stuff with mice/rat poision. This stuff did nothing but the poision worked very well as evidenced by the dead mice I found in my basement and garage. Problem is, this stuff did not "Repell" the poor little mice that found my poision in the basement and garage. Didn't work for me.

Also, I used a bunch of this stuff in my large planter boxes on the front porch to keep the squirrels from burrying thier nuts in them. Nothing changed - it did not work. Save your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars It actually works!!!, May 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shake Away 3001003 3-Pound Rodent Repellent Granules (Lawn & Patio)
I was a little skeptical when I ordered this product but I was desperate. I had moved into a new place that had mice & I didn't want to kill them. I was AMAZED after using this product combined with live traps (the live traps only caught a couple) for 2 weeks, they were gone!! I was so happy! It works people! Also I couldn't smell any odor to the product which was great, & it didn't bother my cat! My problem wasn't severe, but I ordered this product for a friend who had a severe rat problem in a storage facility & it took a little longer (I'm thinking 1 month of using the product) to completely rid him of the infestation!! Couldn't be happier with the results!

2.0 out of 5 stars Voles still making our yard into a jigsaw puzzle, August 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shake Away 3001003 3-Pound Rodent Repellent Granules (Lawn & Patio)
I liked the idea of easy to spread granules to deter the critters. Unfortunately after just a few days of using the entire three pounds of Shake Away along one side of the house and driveway, the voles in our yard just ran right over the granules and made deeper runs in the yard--looks like we have a grass jigsaw puzzle all around the house. I've tried many things and still do not want to use poison which could harm natural vole predators. I have noticed more hawks in the area lately but they aren't getting fat yet. Urine clumps of cat litter, red pepper flakes and crushed egg shells poked into their tunnels have worked the longest (about a week) for us around the driveway. I've read that voles have different tastes and behavior in different parts of the country and in different seasons so what works for one area may or may not work here. At any rate our voles will get a little shake up with some landscaping projects we've got lined up. It might not make any difference in the vole population but it should help with easier lawn mowing!

We followed the directions on the label, bought the little magnitized tins to adhere to the inside of engine compartment and so far have not had any mice in our truck that sits outside. Also, I do not smell it inside the truck after I have driven it awhile and the engine is hot.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money!, October 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shake Away 3001003 3-Pound Rodent Repellent Granules (Lawn & Patio)
I have ordered the product hoping it would stop the mice from getting into my car. I have made the socks balls, attached them to the frame of the car, replaced them couple of times, shaked the repellent on the ground around the car. It didn't work at all, it didn't stop the mice. I have even found mouse droppings on the sock ball filled with the repellent, that I have placed under the hood. I was total waste of money, I am really dissapointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shake Away for Little Rat Friend, September 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shake Away 3001003 3-Pound Rodent Repellent Granules (Lawn & Patio)
Purchased Shake Away for a little rat lingering at my bird feeders. Well, it didn't work! Keep trying, but the little rodent likes where he is! I don't kill things.......so I guess he'll just be there. But the product DOES NOT work. End of story. Should have a money-back guarantee.
