Doesn't work- guarantee not honored either,
By Roger (Pleasanton, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shake Away 8003520 20oz Deer Repellent Coyote Urine Granules (Lawn & Patio)
I used an entire 20-oz container according to the directions, and deer were not fazed. They continued to munch on my willow tree as if they enjoyed being surrounded by these granules. Information about the money-back guarantee was supposed to be found on the company's web site, but it was not mentioned.

good product,
This review is from: Shake Away 8003520 20oz Deer Repellent Coyote Urine Granules (Lawn & Patio)
I live in a rural area with miles of forest around me and have had a constant problem with deer destroying my garden.I have used many different things with each only working for a short period.Rather than sprinkling the powder on the ground I used several old panty hose from my girlfriend and cut them into small sacks. I felt that the powder scent would drift farther if it was off the ground I hung them from trees around my garden widening the area every ten days or so.It has been five weeks since the first application and last sighted a deer near my garden.
There have been coy dogs(part coyote and part house dog) in my area in the past and I dont know if that helps the powder work better due to the deer being familar with the scent.I just ordered some more.

Expensive and ineffective after a week-long trial,

Perhaps the five-star ratings are coming from people who live near deer that are afraid of people. Where I live (outskirts of Houston) the deer are nearly domestic and will stand in my front yard, munching on my shrubs, being as defiant as a 14 year old kid.
I gave this product a week-long try. Night #1, seemed to work okay as there was no new munch evidence. Night #2 (the sprinkler system ran at 4:00 AM) the effectiveness seems to have worn off a bit, as there is more evidence of evening deer dining. Night #3, oh oh, the deer have returned with their appetites, so I sprinkled the remainder of the container on the garden. Night #4, the deer must have caught nasty colds and therefore cannot smell this stuff. More damage. Night #5, #6, and #7. Totally ineffective again. Searched Amazon for alternatives. Found something locally that mixes fiery pepper extract with garlic. Now it smells like an Italian kitchen in my front yard. The deer are calling in reservations now. So I settled on a motion-sensitive sprinkler for about $50. Eureka! That thing works, except that I have to remember it's on when I venture out to fetch the morning paper. But finally the deer dining has been halted. Forget the chemicals, get a motion-sensor sprinkler instead.
