Shake Away Squirrel Powder,
This review is from: Shake Away 8005508 Squirrel Repellent Pack (Lawn & Patio)
The product did not work, the squirrels continued to haul off my fruit from the pear tree with no regard to the product being placed on the tree. In fact, after all the pears were hauled off by the squirrels they continued to play in my back yard with little regard for the four (4) pouches situated in the yard. I think I needed the predator not his urine.

I researched many different products to eliminate squirrels around a bird feeder and this one received the highest remarks. The day I placed the packets on the feeder, the squirrels were sniffing them. They were not bothered at all. The overall result was they had absolutely no effect in keeping the squirrels away from the feeder and I would not waste my money in the future.

So far after three months it appears to really work. I have a horrible problem with Squirrels where I live. They cost me several hundred dollars a year eating into my house. Since I put this out they have not come back and done it again. Crossing my fingers, and planning to continue to use this product.

This product did not deter the squirrels one iota. I sent the company a picture of the squirrel sitting next to the packet and eating away at the birdseed. I wrote them and they suggested that I wait acouple of weeks. I did. No change. I even slit the package to release a stronger scent(?) Nothing. It was as though it did not even exist. The company did offer to return my money but I couldn't find the paperwork.I am really sorry it didn't work as the squirrels are costing me too much money in birdseed so I will seek another solution.

I found this product to be a huge waste of money. I sprinkled it in my gardens that I know squirrels are digging in and I think they laughed at it and continued to dig up all my daffodils.

My son bought me a bird feeder that was supposed to be squirrel proof and after a week of watching the squirrels treat it like their own personal feeding trough I read about this product on a blog somewhere and bought it last winter. It worked immediately. I did have one squirrel sit on the window sill staring at me balefully for a day or two but then they just left the area for good. I had to take the pouches down in the summer, though, because the scent was still pungent and blew in the windows but I had stopped filling the feeder at that point anyway. Will definitely continue to buy this product.

I followed the instructions and placed two of the packs on our bird feeder, but they had no affect whatsoever on the neighborhood squirrels. There was a squirrel hanging onto the feeder trying to get at the seed this morning, just 12 hours after I placed the packets on the feeder. It didn't rain or anything last night, and the packs were still intact (i.e. should have been working). The squirrels paid them no mind, and went about business as usual.

GOOD LUCK FOLKS,
This review is from: Shake Away 8005508 Squirrel Repellent Pack (Lawn & Patio)
If there is one thing on this earth I know about its squirrels. I am rather fond of squirrels. I have a very large bird feeding operation going; have for years, and I completely ignore the squirrels and simply put enough food out for not only the birds, but any other critter that happens to want a good meal. This includes squirrels.Years ago, when I still hunted (For personal reasons I stopped hunting about 40 years ago), squirrel was a favored game. I was raised eating these things. They were, and I assume still are, very tasty creatures if prepared correctly. Now as I said, I like squirrels and I do know about squirrels; their ways and means, their habits their life styles and cycles. I also know that I do not like squirrels in my attic and that is the situation I find myself in at this moment - much to my chagrin. This has been going on for about a year now. I have tried this particular product and several others. Folks, this stuff simply does not work. Actually, after doing quite a lot of research on the subject, very, very few of these "squirrel-no-more" products work. Yes, some people have some success some of the time - some times, but over all you are just pounding your money down a rat hole when you purchase them. This product is no different. Put this stuff in your attic and you will smell the place up and you will be the ones moving rather than the furry little critters you are trying to drive off. I can assure you that trapping squirrels in your attic is not easy. There are know known legal poisons that are effective. Noises, such as a radio or those laughable little super-sonic gizmos are completely ineffective. If you have squirrels in your attack you are in big time trouble. If once you are lucky enough to get rid of them you had better do some major and heavy duty repair on your home and get all the holes blocked up or else the cute little guys will be right back. This is especially true during breeding season when they have little ones and are nesting. Anyway, don't waste your money on these repellents. The squirrels here actually seem to thrive on the stuff. Now if all else fails the following is suggested - I despise wasting anything: 2 squirrels disjointed to serving size 1 onion 1 carrot 2 stalks celery Drop pieces slowly into boiling water to cover. Cut up and add onion, carrot, celery, and parsley. Cool thoroughly until tender. Dry squirrel pieces between towels. Prepare batter (below). Dip each piece into batter, then drop into deep hot fat, and fry until pieces are golden brown. Batter 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup cornmeal 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 beaten egg 1/4 cup milk Mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt. Beat egg lightly. Add milk. Stir liquid into dry ingredients. Fry in good hot lard till done. Bon appétit. Don Blankenship The Ozarks

Basically these do nothing except give off an unpleasant odor, (to humans only it would seem). I tried one pouch hanging from the inside of a window feeder and it did not deter the squirrels. Then I decided to opt for two pouches sitting right in the middle of the feeder right on top of the seed. The squirrels used these as perches and sat right on top of them feeding to the heart's content. As a note I do live in NYC (Queens) so maybe our squirrels are a bit less discriminating of smells.Attached is a picture of Mr. Squirrel with his hind paw on the Shake Away 8005508 Squirrel Repellent Pack digging around under it to get at the birdseed. I added a photo to the product page to convey the effectiveness of this product.
