Poor light - Looses charge fast,
By
This review is from: Shake Flashlight- No Batteries- Simply Shake to Recharge
I have been purchasing a few of these self charging flashlights lately to find the best one.
This one puts out a a poor amount of light. It also does not retain its charge well. You will have to shake it frequently to keep it charged. I would say it is one of the worst ones I purchased.

Flashlight,

Don't ever buy this. It is a rip off and a gimmick. Your hands will get tired really fast for shaking the flashlight and 30 seconds of shaking will not even get you 5 minutes of light with consistent brightness. Even more the light dims almost instantly after shaking with no retention of charge whatsoever. Other flashlights that require cranking can give up to 2 hours of light for 1 minute of cranking if you get the right one.

EVERLIGHT IS LITTLE LIGHT,
By AGNAZZO (Tampa, Florida United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shake Flashlight- No Batteries- Simply Shake to Recharge
LIVING IN FLORIDA I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE EVERLIGHT FLASHLIGHTS.
THE PARTY THAT SAID THERE WAS ENOUGH CHARGE DURING SHIPPINS IS A LITTLE SHAKING IN THE HEAD. IT TAKES AT LEAST A COUPLE OF MINUTES OF OF SHAKING BEFORE THERE IS EVEN A GLIMMER OF LIGHT. AFTER THAT IF YOU DON'T CONTINUE TO SHAKE IT DIES OUT VERY RAPIDLY. THIS LIGHT MAY POSSIBLY COME IN HANDY DURING A HURRICANE POWER FAILURE BUT THERE ARE OTHER LED FLASHLIGHTS WITH BATTERIES THAT ARE SUPERIOR TO THIS ONE. THE POWER USED BY THESE LEDS IS LOW AND THE BATTERIES LAST A LONG TIME.

THIS IS A SCAM,

I am an electrical engineering student and I bought this to study the coil generator for a project I am doing. It turns out this is not a shake flashlight at all, and is powered by little batteries. The "magnet" is actually just a piece of non-magnetic metal. The "coil" is just gold colored paper. If you don't believe me, just screw off the top and look inside. You don't need to know a thing about electrical engineering to see that there are no wires going from the coil, or that it's made out of paper. This is a complete scam from china. Avoid at all costs.

LED Shake Light,
By Arthur Senior "Small Engine Mechanic" (A Dimension Beyond Sight & Sound) - See all my reviews

OPERATING: Just like the larger shake lights, you have to shake them back and fourth to charge the capacitor. You can visit their website for the detailed expert instruction on how these lights work. Basically what happens is, as the magnet moves back and fourth inside the coil, the magnetic field produced by the magnet, creates a electric charge through the coil. This electric charge is then past on to the capacitor. Then the power stored in the capacitor is then discharged into the LED inside the lens.
MINI LIGHT: The mini lights are, well, mini, small enough to fit in your pocket, yet still contain the regenerative ability to recharge. Its just all the parts are made smaller, smaller coil, smaller magnet, smaller capacitor. And that becomes the downfall over the mini lights is the smaller capacitor. It does not hold nearly enough power to power this light for an extended period, and nor will it continue to store power after 24-hours have gone by while not in use. I just don't like them because they don't put out nearly enough light for me. Good stocking stuffer though! lol You have to keep holding the button down for it to light up. STANDARD LIGHT: The standard lights are bigger, I like this because I can hold them in my whole hand, gives me a better grip that way. The parts inside are bigger, including the capacitor. I like these lights much better because the capacitor is actually large enough to hold a charge to make these lights useful! And if I choose not to use the light for a week, or a month, the capacitor is still holding the charge! This makes them much more useful in my opinion. And on top of that, they are bright too, still use a single LED, but actually illuminate enough to be worth something. You still have to continue to hold the button down to light up. LARGE LIGHT: The large lights are by far the best of the breed of shake lights. The parts are slightly bigger then in the standard lights, but the light itself is much longer in length. These ones are my favorite, because not only are they the brightest of the bunch, still using a single LED, but they last the longest on a charge as well. I like these ones better also because of the slide switch instead of the button. I can flip the switch on, the light will come on, and I don't have to continue to hold the button down. This way I can use it while working, such as, adjustable temperature settings on my hot water tank. POWER TO SHAKE RATIO: OK, here is the only down fall with these lights. If you want 2-minutes of light power, you must shake the light vigorously for 30-seconds, not too bad right? But if you want 8 to 10 minutes of power, you have to shake for at least 2-minutes. With the mini lights, because they can't hold a charge worth crap, you have to shake them for 2-minutes just to get a minute of power out of them. DURABILITY: These flashlights are all made out of plastic, and they are made to be very durable. So durable infact, they have been rated to be run over by a car, and still survive! I totally feel they are durable, the plastic is very tough, I have not broken one yet, and nor does any of them have cosmetic damage. I love the transparent look, being able to see the insides is cool. CONCLUSION: There are crank lights and shake lights for regenerative power. Our first ones were the shake lights. When comparing the shake lights to the crank lights, I am sorry to say, I rather have the crank lights. Because for one, an elderly person with arthritis will be able to crank charge a light a lot easier then shaking one. And a crank light takes less cranking to charge a light vs the shake lights. All in all, I do like the shake lights, but they surely are not the best for regenerative power. I give them all a 3 out of 5.

Reed switch doesn't work, the flashlight is inoperable.,
By Green Girl (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shake Flashlight- No Batteries- Simply Shake to Recharge
I am helping my son with an electromagnetic induction science fair project and have studied extensively the requirements for these types of flashlights to operate. This flashlight is better than the 'fake' shake flashlight we'd previously ordered for $2.35 at amazon.com, because it actually uses a real NIB magnet and appropriate circuitry. However, the reed switch (which uses a small magnet to connect the capacitor's stored potential to the LED)doesn't work. Thus, the LED won't light. I'm very disappointed with this purchase. There are genuienly amazing shake flashlights that, both in function and design are truly brilliant devices, but they cost a lot more than this flashlight, so it seems that the old saying, "you get what you pay for", is proven true, once again.

Not good!!!!!!!,

This item was purchased as a gift and I was very unhappy when I received the item. The box it came in was very bent up and the top of the box would not even close properly. The flashlight was missing the cord to hang it from and it was hard to get to work after following the directions. I would not buy this product again.

As noted in another review, this is not in fact a hand-powered flashlight. The 'coil' is a piece of foil and the 'magnet' is a piece of lead. The flashlight is actually powered by batteries. Save your money.

This thing outputs so little light it's terrifying. The light coming out of my cell phone's display is much brighter than the few nanolumens this thing produces with vigorous shaking.

Shake flaslite,
This review is from: Shake Flashlight- No Batteries- Simply Shake to Recharge
In my clear opinion, this product is not worthed at all for any amount of money unless if you plan to spend more time shaking the flash light than using it..even after that the illumination is very short lasting and minimal. Buy Garrity 3 led flash light. It is worthed for the money.
