I am currently pregnant and a vegan, as well as gluten free. Because of that combination it's been more difficult to get enough protein in my diet so halfway through my pregnancy, I started using the shake & go smoothies and they have been great. I have it on days where I feel my protein is a little lacking and I often mix it with organic soymilk to add another boost of protein. For those avoiding soy, it's also great with almond, rice, hemp milk, etc.
Before purchasing, I did extensive research on many different protein powders to try and find the safest one for pregnancy that was high quality, affordable and had a flavor. While it is a little pricey, this was the best product for me. I started out having a sample of the vanilla almondilla and the taste was a bit different to me, but I had it mixed with water. After that I purchased the chocolate flavor, which I really like, but have recently started to get tired of, so I decided to give the vanilla amondilla another try. I have to say that I think the vanilla is the better tasting of the two - I think the trick is to add it to some non-dairy milk, not water. It's much creamier and I think tastes way better and is less chalky.
It feels good knowing that I am able to use a safe protein product during my pregnancy that is also full of great nutrients for the baby!
