3.0 out of 5 stars nice, catchy pop songs
Shake Some Action, from Seattle, have put out a catchy pop record long on melodic hooks & short on weighty lyrical content. But who cares? This is obviously a young band learning the ropes & given time, they could mature into something special. 4.0 out of 5 stars Thanks to "Californication", August 11, 2011

I first caught a snippet of "I Can See Where This Is Going Now" while I was watching a scene of "Californication." Hank was pulling around the corner in his Porsche (with the obligatory smashed right headlight) and parking in front of his apartment as the tune was playing. Just hearing the four or five seconds of the song was enough to make me want to investigate it further. I found the source somewhere on the internet (doesn't matter where). There was just something about the music - the jangly guitars and upbeat rhythms - it hit on all the right cylinders for me. Since purchasing the CD and listening to the entirety of it a dozen times or so, it has not worn out its welcome. It's a good album...not a great album, but good enough to find a place in the lineup for me right now.

4.0 out of 5 stars stellar, November 12, 2007

I love this album. Pop music like you'd hear in London in 1966 - bright, jangly and energetic. They sound a bit like the Byrds fronted by Lou Reed but overall the major influences are classic British pop bands like the Beatles and the Kinks. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Less here than meets the ear, October 27, 2007

'Sound of Your Mind' caught my attention on the radio, so I took a quick listen to the album samples on Amazon and bought the cd. Mistake. The hooky melodies go unbaited. Glib, simplistic lyrics wear out after the first listen, and the vocals simply end up sounding callow. Should I have gathered this from the samples? Probably so--lesson learned.
