5.0 out of 5 stars Zucchero Shake CD, May 15, 2004
This review is from: Shake (Audio CD)
I was in a familiar coffee shop in Munich when I first heard this CD. The disc so intrigued me that I asked the owner and she kindly showed me the disc. I immediately went to the WOM (world of music) shop down the street and purchased the disc. The closest word I can imagine is enchanting. The music and words pull you in and you can't help but enjoy this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have..., June 11, 2005

My sister turned me on to Zucchero. Yet another thing I will never be able to repay. This album is great. If you have never heard Zu's music, this is a good place to start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, June 29, 2002
This review is from: Shake (Audio CD)
I'm an American living in Germany and I never heard of Zucchero until I saw one of his video's, "She's My Baby" on one of the European music channels. I instantly had to find out more about him! I found "Shake" at a local store and I am in love with so many of the songs on it! "I'm In Trouble", "I Lay Down" (w/ John Lee Hooker, "Sparkling Meadows". . .too many to name. I do prefer his slower ballads on the CD (which make up 2/3's of it) over the songs with a "rock" edge to them but even still it's an excellent CD. I highly recommend it to everyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Zucchero - Shake, August 12, 2002

You know you've got a good musician when you can be moved by the words and music without even being able to understand the words. And this is what Zucchero is able to do with this album, as well with his others. he'll make a song like Porca l'oca, completely rocking, then go and transition to Ahum or Rossa Mela Della Sera, completely in that Euro-Pop vein, which is all cool, because he has his own voice and own style. The fact that he's charted in roughly a dozen European and South American countries is a testament to the fact that music is a universal language, and that good music is just that, good music, regardless of language.

Song number four, Ali d'oro (wings of gold) is a heart-stopper. Wow. John Lee Hooker and Zucchero (singing like Clapton on a really good day): "I lay down with an angel, lay down thinking, more than I could, really say" Damn, this is what music is about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zucchero rocks!, June 5, 2006
This review is from: Shake (Audio CD)
This was the first Zucchero cd that I ever purchased, and I was immediately hooked. I love his voice; he invests a lot of emotion in his singing. Plus there are lots of great songs - some rocking blues and some fine slow songs. Terrific duets with a female singer in some of the songs(Music in Me, Hasta El Fondo) as well as the instant classic duet with John Lee Hooker on Ali D'oro. My favorite songs are : Music in Me, Rossa Mela Della Sera, Hasta El Fondo, Ali D'oro, Baila Morena, Aromas Perdidos and Shake. As you can see, I enjoy most of the cd.

If you also enjoy this cd, I highly recommend my other two favorite Zucchero cds : Blue Sugar and Spirito Divino. Make sure to buy the Italian language version of these cds. I never like it as well when he sings in English, and he usually puts out an English language version of his cds. This particular version of Shake does have a few of the songs in Spanish, but he sings well in Spanish too.

I'm looking forward to his next cd which should be coming out later this year!
