My wife and I bought two of these Shakespeare rods for our two boys last Christmas and finally got to try them out in the water. My sons are 2 and 4 so still very new to fishing and not at the most physically coordinated stages of life. These reels come with rubber fish that are great for practicing casting in the house or in the yard. Our 4-year-old got pretty good at casting with this technique. After repeated casting and reeling in these reels feel very durable. The rod also seems of decent quality however there are so few eyelets it's hard to store hooks when not in use and while carrying. We ended up using a hole on the reel handle. What my wife and I really love about this set is that it doesn't have any "characters" on it.
