4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant and relaxing, August 29, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Shakespeare: Greatest Hits - Lute works from the Elizabethan Age (Dowland, Farnaby, Gervaise, Mudarra, etc) (2 CD Set) (Audio CD)
I heard this at a local mega-bookstore. It is pleasing enough that I actually heard it and was listening to it. Definitely background or relaxation music, but also good enough to listen to. The woodwinds on some of the pieces are very lyrical. Good medieval/Elizabethan type music.

3.0 out of 5 stars exquisite, June 10, 2009
This review is from: Shakespeare: Greatest Hits - Lute works from the Elizabethan Age (Dowland, Farnaby, Gervaise, Mudarra, etc) (2 CD Set) (Audio CD)
As with Shakespeare's literature, you must like the music of his time. If you are a newcomer to these toones, seat your self one afternoon in your studio, reading or painting or just vegetating. Play this CD and Let the musical notes take you where they will. Picture yourself at the Elizabethan courts, eat, dance and be merry. don't expect anything. just listen and enjoy.
My humble opinion is that mankind, with all its arrogance and imperfections have created one single most PERFECT thing.... Music !
