5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Soundtracks throughout the years
Even though the release of the movie, which had me enraptured, is now six years in the past, I still enjoy listening to this soundtrack as much as ever.
After having seen the film I listened to the listening samples of the soundtrack available online over and over; the melodies really haunted me and I wanted desperately to be transported back into the escapist world...

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars It gets the job done.
However, I find that while the movie is excellent and full of life, the soundtrack only has certain parts that bring back that ambiance. I suggest buying the movie if you liked the music, because only about 15 percent of the soundtrack will be recognizable to you. But it is very pretty.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Soundtracks throughout the years, May 20, 2005
This review is from: Shakespeare in Love (Audio CD)
Even though the release of the movie, which had me enraptured, is now six years in the past, I still enjoy listening to this soundtrack as much as ever.
After having seen the film I listened to the listening samples of the soundtrack available online over and over; the melodies really haunted me and I wanted desperately to be transported back into the escapist world of Shakespeare in Love by listening to its music. The Soundtrack, which I then bought, enabled me to do so over and over again, but over the years I find it has qualities beyond those linked to the motion picture, and it has become one of my favorite CDs to read, study and relax by.
Anyone who loved the film will enjoy remembering it by means of the music, and re-experiencing the fun, fast, multi-layered, stimulating and inspiring story again (and again and again).

5.0 out of 5 stars A vibrante and amazingly emotional score!, March 24, 2000
This review is from: Shakespeare in Love (Audio CD)
Shakespeare in Love, what else is their to say about the movie, but that it deserved picture and won. The score is equally great, it brings out the unspoken words in the film. This score did a wonferful job of bringing across the love of shakespeare and viola. it went form love at first sight to the final farewell. "The End" is one of the most moving pieces I have ever heard. It speaks of triumfe, sacrifice, and most of love that will never end, but only get stronger with every passing moment. Every cut helped to bring a tone and another character who speaks in silence, but helps the movie to inforce the feelings it most wants you to take away with you at the end of the film: love, and a bit with a dog as Henslowe would say! Most of all it convays romance beyond words and life.

5.0 out of 5 stars light-hearted and emotional, April 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Shakespeare in Love (Audio CD)
I'd be lying if I said Shakespeare in Love was the year's BEST movie, even if it more than deserved the Oscar nod. I'd also be lying if I said this soundtrack was bad (I'd be outta my mind to say that!) After I saw the movie, the music was the only thing I could think of. I bought the CD the next day. Does that give you an idea of how amazing the score is?

4.0 out of 5 stars Warbeck meets Shakespeare, May 24, 2001
This review is from: Shakespeare in Love (Audio CD)
"Shakespeare in Love," a witty tale of love and theater in Elizabethan England, was one of the most delightful films of the late 1990s. This CD contains the film's musical score, composed by Stephen Warbeck.

I think that this music works better as a backdrop to the film, rather than as a stand-alone composition; I found much of the CD to be somewhat forgettable on its own. Still, there are some genuinely memorable tracks, and the score overall is quite pleasant. The opening track (appropriately called "The Beginning of the Partnership") has a lovely, romantic sweep to it. And "The De Lesseps' Dance" is a wonderful piece that evokes an Elizabethan social gathering. If you are a fan of the film, give the CD a try.

Absolutely magnificant! I am not even a fan of classical music but I adored this wonderful blend which took me right back to the movie itself and into the arms of gorgeous Joseph Fiennes!

Well, I've never been able to comment with any soundtrack before. And I think this one's great, very mellifluous voices that's suiting to the movie as well. Hope you will continue to produce great song such this...

5.0 out of 5 stars As joyous and emotional as the movie..., March 30, 1999
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

An excellent accompaniment to the movie: joyous, lyrical, sweeping, with a nice balance of theme music and incidental music. Stephen Warbeck's score for "Shakespeare in Love" swept me along with the same vibrant energy as the movie: throbbing cellos, dancing piccolos, violins by turns weeping and soaring. Bravo!

This is my favorite romantic movie, and the soundtrack delivers beautiful, soul-stirring classical music, taken from Stephen Warbeck's score. I love to listen to this album when relaxing and studying (or having a candlelit dinner). ;) If you are a classical music fan, or if you just want to relive the beauty of the motion picture "Shakespeare in Love", pop this CD into your player and get ready for your heart to be captured once again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another wonderful outing for Warbeck, January 14, 1999
By
This review is from: Shakespeare in Love (Audio CD)
Stephen Warbeck's score is magnificent; the only problem, albeit relatively small, I have with it is that he neglects to develop the sweeping opening theme, found in track 1, and to a lesser degree track 7, further. I kept waiting for it to reappear and go somewhere new and exciting, only to be somewhat let down at the end of the CD. Once past this, however, and in all other respects, the score makes for wonderful and engaging listening. I hear new subtle nuances every time I play it. I recommend it highly.
