I have the 6'6" paired with a Daiwa Regal 2500xi and 6lb P-Line Floroclear line. I can cast a bobber over a 100ft. I am amazed at the performance of this rod especially for the cheap price. The graphite is GL3 - 47 million modulus (IM8), which is pretty high.

Excellent rod - I have grown to enjoy owning Shakespeare Rods more than any of the others I own. I will be purchasing many more in the years to come.

This is a very versitile rod for multiple applications and the weight is just right. Best buy ever!!!

I just have to write a review now as I am thoroughly hacked off with this rod. We purchased two of these at a recognized local fishing gear shop in Corpus Christi October 2008 to do a little surf fishing. This is a heavy action rod that uses 12-30 lb test. The first rod had to be returned the next day - thank goodness one of the middle guide holders split while we were down there - so merchant couldn't argue too much about it. Off we went fishing another day or so and then home. The other rod didn't make it home in one piece as it also had a bad guide holder that fell apart on the way home. I am now putting the new rod together to test the reels and wouldn't you know another bad guide holder. So now I will have to repair both rods, but you bet I won't buy another Shakespeare rod! This has never happened to me - worse rod experiences have been broken off tips and we all know how that happens. Guides don't last forever either but they should weather more than 3 days of usage! I might add for all you "hard core" fisher people that we clean and rinse all rods & reels prior to putting away for the day. Shakespeare use to make good stuff, but so did alot of others. : Guess we will be shopping Walmart or Academy where returns are easy and they have a pretty rapid turn-over!

Ordered a 6ft. 2pc. rod and thought I would be getting one with a handle as pictured but I recieved a 5ft.6in. 2pc. rod with a pistol type grip. Feel Amazon needs to split this listing as the longer rods have the handles as pictured. The rod itself was a great deal and the low rating is because of Amazon's fault in listing incorrectly.
