I bought this pole for my wife for Mother's Day. She absolutely loved it and caught two 15-20lb Black Drums on it the next day. The next trip we took to the Keys and the first time she went fishing off the dock the pole snapped in half after she got snagged. She knows how to fish and I've never seen her snap a pole. I think fighting the drum fish may have weakened the pole but this 7ft pole should easily be able to handle that size fish. She's not holding the fish up in the air out of water. Then I check Amazon and I am past my return period...She didn't even get to use it twice. I also made sure the pole and reel were hosed off and put a coat of lubricant to keep it nice. This past weekend I put the reel on another pole I had and it would hardly crank. I have reels and poles 5 years old that are still holding up and I babied this one. Gotta call a skunk a skunk on this one.

This combo is a sturdy and well built. Other combos designed for women are more like childrens toys, this one is very obviously designed for a more serious fisher.

I purchased this as a gift for my wife a month ago. The fish just started running. She had one day of catching fish with it... This weekend we went out and when she casted out the pole broke in 2 places about a foot from the end... so now it is in 3 peaces...

Tried to go through Shakespeare's "warranty" and not only do I need to ship it to them so they can inspect it, but I also have to send them a check for return shipping, which will cost me more than just ordering a new one.

I really find it insulting that they would promote such a cheep pole with the Breast Cancer Awareness.

I would advise against this product!

This is a great fishing pole. Any woman would love to have it. The picture does not do it justice. It is much prettier in person.
It is not only pretty but it is very sturdy. It also comes with a reel that can be changed for a left or right handed person.
It is a must have for the new generation of fisher women.

I probably ordered the wrong thing but I don't see having any use for it. It spools out. Its too big.

Just got this in so first parts all first impression. My order was with "LG Outdoors" and was shipped actually better then my rods i buy from bass pro.. (kinda sad).. now onto the rod..

First impression. Little less pink then i expected but she didnt want a pure pink one so +1... build seems sturdy enough but only an outing will tell. Definitly better then a walmart rod thats my two cents.

Onto the reel. I perused Around trying to find a gear rating or even a line compacity which i found nothing.. to my surprize it is a 5:1:1 i figured itd be something small and cheap. Now it does come with 14lb line. And thats junk to me. Iv already thrown some 80lb braid on it. with no problems.....The compacity is 12/240 14/220 17/170.. just an fyi :) states its a 10-20lb maybe 25 ill look later

All in all the only reason im scoring it a 3 at this time is it is untested and i have no clue how itl hold up and i feel 3 is decent at this time. Looks nice. Decent price. And fir the price. And the support to brest cancer id say its worth it sofar :)....ill update after a few outings and then again after an entire season of "wear and tear"

I ordered 2 of these for my first surf-fishing outing. The first on broke on the 2nd day of use so I returned it. The 2nd one "hangs up" a lot when casting. My Dad was an avid fisherman and he always liked Shakespeare reels, but that was from many years ago. The quality isn't the same...just like everything else, I guess.
