5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner for Lorrie
Lorrie Morgan's 1997 album SHAKIN' THINGS UP is a great album, and usually overlooked. It includes the hit "Go Away", which is one of her most compelling singles in the past 5 years. The album features a good mixture of uptempo songs, and ballads. Some of the best uptempo songs include "Finishing Touch", "One Of Those Nights Tonight", and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as her other albums.
I am a big Lorrie fan and have 7 of her ablums. I must say that although Shakin Things Up is not a bad album, compared to her others it is very mid rate and I was disappointed. For me Lorrie's albums have a kind of magic that other artists do not, but I do not feel that this album has that magic (with the exception of "Will You Love Me Tomorrow") in which...

Overall this is a great album that no fan should be without, and country music fans might want to look into this to see what they are missing out on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lorrie Shakes Things Up, May 9, 2001
This review is from: Shakin Things Up (Audio CD)
Shakin Things Up is a truly good collection of music from a very talented artist, Lorrie Morgan. Its a shame this album didn't get as much recognition as it deserved, it contains some of her best material. Go Away was one of the best country songs from 1997, with a great video to go along with it. However country radio was lukewarm with the material from this album. Every song is a winner. One Of Those Nights Tonight was another fun song, about a woman who craves a little more out of life. I'm Not That Easy To Forget is a nice song for those who have recently left a relationship, this is your song. Finshing Touch is a fun song that was single worthy, really fun, the kinda stuff I like to hear Lorrie sing. The final three tracks, You Think Hed Know Me Better, Will You Love Me Tommorow and In A Perfect World are classic Lorrie songs. This is one of her best albums, you simply must hear it, some great material on here.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good album from Lorrie, February 28, 2001
This review is from: Shakin Things Up (Audio CD)
A good album from Lorrie. Not the best, but still good. "Go Away" is a fun catchy song that I really like, and her cover of the Gerry Goffin/Carole King song "Will you love me tomorrow" is perfect. On the whole, this album is definately worth owning for all of Lorrie's fans, and in fact, any fan of country music.

5.0 out of 5 stars LORRIE'S BEST CD!!, January 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Shakin Things Up (Audio CD)
This CD is loaded with great songs from the first track to the last! Up tempo songs like "Go Away" to wonderful ballads like "Crazy From The Heat" ,"You'd Think He'd Know Me Better" and my favorite, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" show Lorrie's range in emotion as well as her diversity as a song stylist. Your best buy for your money!! Get one for yourself and one for your best friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overlooked and under appreciated, May 25, 2003
This review is from: Shakin Things Up (Audio CD)
I fell in love with Lorrie's music from the time I heard her first RCA album and have remained a fan ever since. This album was released in 1997 at a time when country radio, not sharing my loyalty, had lost interest. Nevertheless, this is a lovely album, typical of Lorrie's music.

The title track describes how Lorrie likes to shake things up, push out the boundaries and live on the edge. Given the number of marriages she has had and her eclectic musical tastes, nobody could argue with that.

There are two real oldies here. I've enjoyed as much of this as I can stand was originally a country hit for Porter Wagoner. Will you still love me tomorrow was originally a huge international hit for the Shirelles. Lorrie's exquisite version utilises a mandolin to add a slight bluegrass flavor.

Crazy from the heat is a great song about young love. I'm not that easy to forget is a song of defiance a recently broken relationship. Elsewhere, the album contains a great mix of upbeat, fun songs and love songs.

Despite the lack of big hits, this is a great album. Of course, if you're new to Lorrie's music, you should start with one of her compilations, but if you want to collect some of her original albums. You ought to include this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, April 1, 2010

This review is from: Shakin Things Up (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite LM albums. It has the big hit "Go Away" (her last top 10 hit) but that's not all this album has to offer. My personal favorites are "Shakin' Things Up", "One Of Those Nights Tonight", "I've Enjoyed As Much Of This As I Can Stand". Every song on here is great. Buy it if you want to hear good music.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a GREAT CD, August 22, 1998

I can't believe there aren't more reviews on this CD. I thought it was absolutely fabulous. With songs like "You Can't Take That" (my fav), "I'm Not That Easy To Forget", and "One Of Those Nights Tonight"; this is a sure winner. Of all 11 songs only one was a snoozer. I highly recommend this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shakin it Up, November 16, 2004
This review is from: Shakin Things Up (Audio CD)
This is a fun Lorrie album. That's how I would describe it. It's just fun to listen to. There's a good mixture of fun upbeat songs and classic Lorrie ballads. The album opens with the title track which is good, but probably my least favorite song on the album. "One of Those Nights Tonight" was a mild hit, it's a great song. She does some great ballads here namely "In A Perfect World", "You Can't Take That", "You Think He'd Know Me Better", "Crazy From The Heat" and "I've Enjoyed As Much of This as I Can Stand". "Finishing Touch" and "I'm Not That Easy To Forget" are great uptempo songs. "Go Away" is a treat, and one of her better hits, full of sass and attitude. She also does an excellent version of "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" which is another highlight. A great album!

4.0 out of 5 stars Polished but passionate, November 13, 2001
This review is from: Shakin Things Up (Audio CD)
It's easy to dismiss artists like Lorrie as having had their day, but frankly anyone who spends time listening to this CD will quickly realise this is an artist with plenty more to give. The songs are pretty strong throughout (although being Lorrie, there are invitably a couple of clunkers). You simply can't resist the deft touch on tracks like 'You Can't Take That' however and only she could get away with the wishy washy girl/wishy washy world line in the high camp 'Go Away', which transforms itself from tragic to triumphant after a couple of gin and tonics. At least the girl know how to have a laugh. Enjoy!
