For anyone is more than a casual fan of a group, a greatest hits album is somewhat pointless. Sure it's nice to put it on for a mix, but I have all of their singles because I have all of their albums. However, for anyone who likes Breaking Benjamin... this set is a must have for the b-sides, acoustic versions, and covers. They must have known that, for fans like me, they would have to give us a reason to buy this album, and they delivered.

The live acoustic versions are extremely hi-fi, and even I was surprised at how good Ben's voice sounded in the recording. The covers, "Who wants to Live Forever" (Queen) and "Enjoy the Silence" (Depeche Mode) are masterpieces, practically worthy of the current $12 price tag by themselves. The four rarities (Ordinary Man, Better Days, Lie to Me, and Ladybug) are also really great. Ordinary Man is kind of old hat, but Better Days is a surprisingly uplifting song (surprising for this band) that sounds like an epilogue to the single "Sooner or Later." Lie to Me is a a beautiful and sad folksy song, and Ladybug is an epic look at what a 'Punk' Breaking Benjamin band would sound like.

What else? The new remix of Blow Me Away has been out of a while, but it's nice to own in on something more substantial than a single. The remix of Water is pretty cool, but I'm so used to the original, and it's one of my fav BB songs, so I don't know what I'll do there... just keep both I guess.

The biggest problem I have with this album is that they didn't take the time to give it a "mix cd" feel by reorganizing their songs. The singles are simply in the order they came out. Kind of lame, but cool to hear the progression I guess?

Also, you'll need to go onto itunes or the Amazon store to buy the live acoustic version of Had Enough, which is only included on the standard, 1 disc version, not the deluxe edition.

Overall, great set for a great price - even if you already own their other stuff.

I own every Breaking Ben cd, and so when the greatest hits came out I wasn't to excited to see them until I saw the B sides. The B sides are amazing in every way, and have a few suprises that made the purchase worth it. So if you have a choice, buy the deluxe edition, not the normal one. HOPE YOU GET BETTER BEN, WE MISS YOU!!!!!

The Shallow Bay is such a great collection of songs, some of Breaking Benjamin's best. I say that loosely though, because BB has never disappointed me. I can listen to every album they have put out, and it never gets old. There is such an energy and meaning beneath the music. it truly offers you a window in the troubles that we as people suffer from and the demons we must fight. Anyone who is a fan of music and wants to hear great rock must pick up this collection.
The break up of the band comes at a great lose to the music community. I can only hope that with the resolution of the disputes had that BB can not only regroup, but also that Benjamin Burnley gets well and to a place where he is able to and wants to perform again. There is an eager and vast fanbase praying for such a return and it will be with open arms we hop e for such a day.

I'm too old to like this, but I do. They sound like alot of the voice straining music of the 90's-00's, but with heart and soul. I like the 2nd disc better than the primary, but both are good. Yeah, I know, they disbanded in 2011, but i don't have the time to stay on the music scene like when I was younger. I did do my homework on the band somewhat. I appreciate a group that disbands because they feel they can't add any thing new to what they have already done. The Moody Blues did that in the 70's. Take time off, come back when there is something new to share, something that reignites your passion and spirit. Til that day, this is the best....so far!

This is a GREAT CD to help you get past the hump of waiting for a new record for this band. The first CD has the popular songs from them that we've come to love, including the previously unreleased song from the HALO soundtrack. This CD was good, but I already had them all!

The second CD was new cover songs, unreleased songs, and acoustic covers.

If you aren't already a huge breaking benjamin fan you might not thing its worth it. But like I said above if you are a BB fan, buy it!

For those of you looking at the normal version, I am writing about the Deluxe. This album is great. It has three songs from each of their albums, and their single Blow Me Away. I have mixed feelings about this song because this is the song that broke up the band but.... its good anyway. It also has the excellent b sides disk that has many good unreleased tracks and live songs. It is a must have for any Breaking Benjamin Fan. The two highlights from the b side disk are the acoustic of I Will Not Bow, which I find to be almost beautiful, and their cover of Queens Who Wants to Live Forever. Buy it, you will not regret

This CD is absolutely amazing! I would however give it back if Breaking Benjamin would get back together. It's so sad that they broke up. Even more sad that it was because of this CD. They are by far my most favorite group ever.

Essentially, this is a singles collection from the group and should suit those who like what they've heard on the radio, but don't want to splurge for all their discs. There are definately some good tracks missing here, but what's here is definately the bands Greatest Hits. That said, I actually feel the timing of the disc is perfect, as the group has fallen into a rut and much of their sounded similar since Phobia. Dear Agony sounded as if it were copy and pasted from their previous discs, as does the new single. Hopefully new musicians will bring new inspiration to Ben and the band's sound can move forward following the hiatus.

I have all the albums by Breaking Benjamin, I only bought this one for the second disc. It was a little overpriced but with the autorip and 2 day shipping very worth it.
