5.0 out of 5 stars Paul Wilbur isThe Best
I accidentally ran across Paul Wilbur's music a few years ago and am totally in awe of the beauty of his music and his lyrics. I own all of his CDs and listen to them often. I always wind up teary-eyed and feel as though I have just been in God's presence each time I hear his music. I just wish Paul Wilbur had more Cds available.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable messianic worship, but not Paul Wilbur's best.
I became an instant fan of Paul Wilbur after listening to his CD "The Lion of Judah" (see my separate review). When I picked up "Shalom Jerusalem" I expected more of the same, but honestly I was mildly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad CD by any stretch of the imagination. It's just that I set my expectations so high, and this CD...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stand Up and Give Him the Praise!!, September 9, 2002

Who is like the Lord? There is no one! So say the lyrics of my favorite song of this set. There is no album better for morning praise and worship. It gets me up, it moves me, the next thing I know I'm twirling, shouting and Praising Yahweh! So I stand up and give Jesus, Hosanna Integrity Music, and Paul Wilbur crazy praise for opening up our hearts in this most enjoyable and worshipful way.
It has everything from Israeli Rock to beautiful ballads--all done in Messianic Praise style. Check it out...you'll back for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Come Into His Presence and Worship Him!!, February 8, 2003

In one of the first live recordings in Jerusalem, Paul Wilbur, has weaved the purity of worship into the fabric of Messianic praise, and nearly 3,000 believers from over 14 countries congregate in Jerusalem for this fantastic event.

The music is incredible and pulsating, and you can almost see it unfold before your eyes. Some of the titles include: Shalom Jerusalem; Baruch Haba; Ma Tovu; In Your Presence; I Lift Up My Eyes; and others. In fact, what is really wonderful about this album, is that Paul weaves not only the music, but the Hebrew and English versions together, so you can actually learn as you worship.

Powerful and majestic, this recording is. Listen to it and be transported to His Throne Room. Highly recommended!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Does it get more annointed than this?, January 10, 2003

I doubt it! Granted, there are other praise selections out there that are spirit touched, but this is like being in the very Throne Room. I fell down and cried when I first heard it, and lost my cassette so I'm here reordering it, as I found it hard to come by in the two stores I visited.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable messianic worship, but not Paul Wilbur's best., April 12, 2004
This review is from: Shalom Jerusalem (Audio CD)
I became an instant fan of Paul Wilbur after listening to his CD "The Lion of Judah" (see my separate review). When I picked up "Shalom Jerusalem" I expected more of the same, but honestly I was mildly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad CD by any stretch of the imagination. It's just that I set my expectations so high, and this CD didn't meet them for several reasons.

First, and probably the most important, is that the songs didn't reach down and get ahold of my soul the way they did in "The Lion of Judah". There are a great variety of styles on this CD, from the slow and worshipful, to rock-and-rollish, to the unmistakably Jewish. Although they are filled with great lyrics (many taken straight from the Psalms), they simply didn't have (in my humble opinion) the same depth of meaning and spiritual power that I experienced with the earlier CD. Also, many of the lyrics were too simple and repetitive, rather than thought-provoking. While they are great for celebrating God's goodness, I never really felt like they drew me into an attitude of genuine worship.

Along the same lines, there were a few too many songs in Hebrew on this CD. That's a fine thing if you happen to be a messianic Jew or otherwise understand Hebrew, but I'm not and I don't. Thus, a number of these songs were somewhat lost on me, other than the ability to appreciate the beauty of the language and the unique culture that it expresses. There are, however, a few songs that cross back and forth between Hebrew and English, which makes them decidedly easier to follow.

Keep in mind that my review is based on my limited exposure to messianic Judaism and one other Paul Wilbur CD, so take it for what it's worth. You might like this one much better than I did, but if you've never tried Paul Wilbur or this type of music before, I think "The Lion of Judah" would be a much better first pick.
