One sword; Four Horsemen

The ending of all things or the beginning? Satan has been freed after 2000 years of imprisonment in Dudael but whose side will the great destroyer take when the winds of Armageddon blow and the horsemen thunder across the valley of Sealius? One lost angel, an elfin boy and a few wizards stand as humanities last hope when the gates of hell fall and the apocalypse is released.

More About the Author

BIO: William Haynes aka `Elliott

I was a small press author from 1988 until 2004 and have published writings in Japan, Calcutta, Scotland and Belgium. In the U.S.A., I have published with Pearl, Black Bear Review, Alpha Press and many other small press magazines. Following my move from New York to Missouri in 1995, I began work on a modern day exploration of Dante's INFERNO in a current setting. The foundation of that series was titled The Curse of Mesphisto's Seed which I published in 2004. The following year I released The Apocalypse of Silence through lulu.com. While Curse explored the physical aspects of a direct confrontation between a small group of characters and the devil, Apocalypse showed the psychological ramifications of such an encounter over an extended period of time.
In late December of 2008, I took this series to the next level with my Outskirts Press title: The Shaman and the Rose. Using the same characters from the prior books, I wove the story into the Book of Revelations and introduced many fantasy elements connecting the Inferno with a fictional account of a possible apocalypse. I am currently working on a revision of the first two books.

The Shaman and the Rose
A review by the author

As a reader I was enthralled by the glorious worlds created within worlds by fantasy author Roger Zelazny. As a writer I have been influenced by such diverse authors as Jack Kerouac, Mickey Spillane, Steven King and many others.
With my latest novel, The Shaman and the Rose I have endeavored to weave magical realms with reality by centering parts of the fable within our own sphere of existence. The result is an epic fantasy adventure where angels take up arms beside men and wizards join with the last elfin born to the race of elves. Together they will face the four horsemen of the apocalypse and Satan who has been set free after two thousand years of imprisonment in Dudael. With the great destroyer wavering between sides and influencing all to gain his own agenda, the outcome of Shaman is never quite certain. This is a fable of love and betrayal, where good and evil are twin sides of the same coin.
Some fantasies are not meant to be forgotten but live forever in the hearts of men. I hope that you will open its pages and embark on the adventure of a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthrallingly Brilliant!, January 30, 2008
This review is from: The Shaman and the Rose (Paperback)
Usually when I read a book I take my time and read it over the course of a few days. I sat down one afternoon and read The Shaman and the Rose in just one day. I found I could not put it down. The overall story itself was enough to catch my attention, but the relationship between the characters made it that much more rich. I found myself caring about what happened to the characters and rooting for one side over the other. Incredibly detailed and full of twists and turns. When people say "page turner" they must be referring to this book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your money!, January 9, 2009
I should have known when one of the 5 star reviews was written by the author. Perhaps this is a good story, but who knows? The formatting is so distracting/awful/incorrect that I could not make it through 5 pages. I would have liked to give this book a chance, but instead, could only give it one star.
