5.0 out of 5 stars Memoir of a Shaman April 5, 2012
Shaman Stone Soup invites the reader to enter the magical world of shaman Elizabeth Herrera, as she describes her life experiences with miracles. With the wise and humble voice of one who knows, Herrera describes her calling to the tradition of shamanic journeying, and numerous amazing-but-true stories of healing.

Shaman Stone Soup is written with each chapter telling a short story from Herrera's life. Herrera's gift for describing shamanic journeying in down-to-Earth terms gives readers a sense of sharing her journey, and the messages from spirit at the end of each section serve as the perfect overview of spiritual insights gleaned from that particular set of experiences.

It's rare to find a book that so thoroughly takes readers into the shamanic realm without making a wrong turn, yet Shaman Stone Soup is just as rich an experience for novices and fellow shamans alike. Miracles of healing, relationship, and connection are ascribed to deeper spiritual truths each one of us knows in our hearts and recognizes to be true, with credit properly ascribed to Spirit for all miracles witnessed and healing journeys performed.

Shaman Stone Soup provides us with a marvelous reminder that miracles are happening all around us, and invites us to see the world with new eyes. This book will be treasured by readers of all ages, beliefs, and walks of life--highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable messages January 26, 2011
I began reading Shaman Stone Soup knowing very little about Shamanism, and having something of a skeptical nature. As such, the first value of the book to me was that it gave some insight into what Shamanism is, and how it works. It also raised questions in my mind about about Shamans and their beliefs and methods, which was its second value. But did the book shift my attitudes regarding Shamanism and related spiritual issues? I'm not sure, and I don't know that it matters. For me, the greatest value of this book is that the messages it imparts go beyond the practice of Shamanism. Finding one's true self; growing love and forgiveness for those who are most important to us; seeking to rid oneself of "baggage" that is a hinderence to full potential; these are themes that should resonate with any persons (even those who don't consider themselves to be particularly spirtual) who have the self-awareness and the desire to make themselves a little bit better than they now are. Ms. Herrera's ability to share without preaching makes this book a pleasure to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing! April 28, 2011
My husband and I just finished reading Shaman Stone Soup last night. I can honestly say that since we started reading it last week, it has had a profoundly positive affect on both our lives. It is an inspiring and quick read, and left me noticing the many miracles that occur everyday! I would recommend (and have been!) this book to anyone. I only wish it was longer and hope there will be another one coming out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting! January 20, 2013
By Dakota
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I started this book in the morning and skipped lunch because I had to finish it before doing anything else. This is a book about the author's spiritual experiences and her spiritual journey. Told in an honest open manner without any "preachiness" or talking down to the reader. I felt better after finishing "Shaman Stone Soup" than I felt before I started so that was time well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars brought miracles with it! April 18, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Somehow, this wonderful gem of a book showed up on my Kindle, out of nowhere! I did not order it and I don't know how it came to me (logically, anyhow), but I'm so glad it did because it was beautiful, timely, and wonderfully written. I have no doubt that this work was divinely guided and from the heart. Herrera has brought her amazing experiences to us all so we can begin to remember what it is to believe in miracles. The day this book came to me, I was scheduled to do a healing for a dear friend and I read most of Shaman Stone Soup before the healing occurred. After reading Herrera's wonderful accounts, I was transformed vibrationally and able to be a bridge for the healing that turned out to be more profound than either my friend or I could have imagined. I was so moved by this book that I've ordered several copies to give as gifts. Even if you're not on a spiritual path, I recommend you read this book. It will certainly affirm your hope and ignite a joy you may not have felt for a very long time!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Magical Read December 15, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Shaman Stone Soup by Elizabeth Herrera. She shares her story of evolving into a spiritual person who draws on her native heritage, belief in God, and personal experiences as a Shaman healer. From this introduction, Ms. Herrera goes on to clearly show that miracles can happen to anyone who is open to making a connection with others. She has written a series of narrative accounts that are very interesting and entertaining, detailing her relationships with people she has healed, God, nature, and the spirits that guide her. As you read, there will be a personal connection to your own spirit and sense of being. You can't help but feel a change for the better after reading this moving book. And at such a great price, it makes an excellent gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Healing, Compassion & Shamanic Journeying December 28, 2010
Shamanic Stone Soup offers a clear, down-to-earth perspective on the ancient practice of shamanic "journeying," illustrating ways that it can support the innate healing capacities of body, mind and spirit. The author's beautifully written and heartfelt stories demonstrate the powers of compassion, caring and prayer when they are focused through ritual and journeying. This very personal memoir of Herrera's healing work makes the techniques of shamanic healing accessible to any interested reader, with valuable glimpses into the deep and universal spiritual roots of all healing processes.

More About the Author

Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is a healer and author who writes life-changing books. Her stories encourage people to stretch outside their comfort zones and reexamine their own beliefs.

Elizabeth was raised in a Christian home, but lost her faith in her early twenties. For over a decade, she searched for something to fill the void, eventually discovering Native American spirituality (shamanism). Through this spiritual practice, she unexpectedly became a catalyst for healing and miracles. These events led her back to a belief in a higher power.

Her great-grandfather was a full-blooded Apache, who raised her father. She was fortunate to know her great-grandfather. He smuggled sugar and flour from Mexico into Texas, exchanged gunfire with Texas Rangers and crossed paths with Pancho Villa.

She is the author of "Shaman Stone Soup," "Dreams of Dying" and "Earth Sentinels."
