This is a wonderfully understated deck of cards. While I agree with much of what other reviewers have presented here. I'm disappointed that, once again, as they did with the Wolf Song deck, publisher U.S. Games Systems, Inc. has severely undermined a wonderful idea and thwarted the noble efforts of creator/author Leita Rishesson. This is a wonderfully understated deck of cards. The colours are earthy, reflecting the basis of shamanic understanding that is presented here: the interlocking world of plant, animal, tree, season, stone and sky, grounded in native American wisdom. The cards are quietly subtle; they invite us to get a sense of the structure of our lives, the moments and points of ntersection. They remind us life is a journey where every step has its choice of direction and consequences. We can beocme mindful of those steps, knowing, too, the wisdom of the other worlds is always present. This is a powerful deck, quietly illustrated, linking us to the latticed loop of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Walking the Shaman Path, January 16, 2006
This review is from: Shaman Wisdom Cards -- Tarot Cards: 65-Card Deck (Cards)
I use these cards to guide me on my daily path of learning healing and my relationship with Father Sky, Mother Earth, my brothers and sisters.

They are a great asset and I highly recommend them to anyone following the scared path of healing or working with any other form of Native American spiritual work.

This is a beautiful tarot for anyone wanting to learn from the wisdom of the earth. It makes it clear that all of our relations from the plant and animal world are here to help us in our journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars My #1 Favorite Deck, January 13, 2011
This review is from: Shaman Wisdom Cards -- Tarot Cards: 65-Card Deck (Cards)
This is my #1 favorite deck that I own. It's nothing like my tarot decks and at first is kind of hard to read. The mini book that comes with it is great, but the wording makes it hard to do readings for others without reading from the book at the beginning. It takes a while to learn the cards. However, this has been the most accurate deck I have ever owned. You don't need to have a connection with Native American Spirituality to use them either. As long as you are open, these cards will work for it. There are no major or minor cards like with tarot. Instead these cards work with natural items like herbs, moon phases, stones, and animals. They really help you get in touch with the ways of old and reconnect you to yourself. I've learned a lot using these cards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm and Affirming, January 28, 2009

I haven't finishing studying these, or used them in a professional capacity yet, to be honest. However, they just FEEL RIGHT. WARM, even. I've read the reviews that point out hard cold facts about them and their relationship (or lack thereof) to actual Indian Shamans. Personally, I think that different things work for each person, and that different things can 'speak' differently to different people. Also, you get what you're looking for by perusing various materials and going with your gut instinct of what feels right FOR YOU and accurate FOR YOU. I already love these and am so glad to have them. The quality is great. My only complaint is how TINY the instruction booklet (and its print!) are because that makes it harder to read. I loved the 'tag' of "Oracle Cards" that was one of those recommended by Amazon. These are not really tarot cards, but are affirmation and wisdom cards. They're written a bit differently and that takes a minute to adapt to, but then it feels good. A card will say, "I am..." unlike tarot decks. This deck feels friendly, also, which is more than I feel from most traditional tarot decks. If you're looking for a traditional type of tarot deck to read with, choose something else, but don't forget to get these too!

While the cards themselves and the design and the thought and insight put into them are quite delightful and meaningful, the absence of adequate documentation, and the glaring omission of an index or table of contents, pretty much leaves you flailing around until you get more familiar with the deck, a process that is proving quite frustrating and time consuming as I flip through pages trying to find information.

My only question about the cards themselves is Leita's declaration that Coyote is a feminine energy. In no tradition have I found the Trickster archetype in general, nor the Coyote archetype specifically, as being feminine, as much as I'd love to see that. It's particularly confusing when I note that Raven is depicted as masculine. If you were to look at the respective Trickster archetype in, for example, Haida (Raven) and Lakota (Coyote) mythology, you'd find more feminine attributes in Raven than you'd find in Coyote. While this potentially casts a shadow over the credibility of this deck for me, I'm anxious to explore it more and see what comes up for me.

altho i did not recieve exactly what i thot i was ordering, idid recieve it in a timely manner. i wrote seller about the mix up and was answered in a timely and courtious manner. they explained how sometimes with high volumes of products mistakes sometimes slip thru the cracks. i was pleased with the email i recieved and now have reconsidered my original rating. i upgradeded it to a good rating and would gladly give the seller another chance at my business as i believe they are a group of people who give pafrt of their product to charity. as i wish to contribute to their cause i will gladly continue to do business with them. thanks for ability to leave feedback and all your convenient services.
