I don't recommend this CD. Sadly Sandra Ingermen's voice grates and is more distracting than relaxing. I can't say I found the guided meditations particularly inspired and given the distracting voice I found it difficult to concentrate on the meditations. It appears to me Sandra Ingerman is trying to take shamanism to its most basic level so the masses can gobble it up in little bites. Her book Shamanic Journeying: A Beginner's Guide is a sample. It is very basic, perhaps too basic like this CD. I am sure there were good intentions, but I think the product needs improvement. I have taken the FSS core shamanism workshop and have never used this CD again after listening to it.

I agree with Kavanava,Sandra Ingerman's voice is so grating that it is really not conducive to meditation. The woman's voice who introduces her would have been MUCH better. Ingerman's voice is flat and irritating--she sounds alot like Rosanne Barr, or at least it gets on the same nerve. Can you imagine Roseanne Barr doing a guided meditation???!
Although the price was right, I do not intend to use it again.
A better alternative is-Shamanic Journeys to Empower Your Life by Jon Rasmussen.

Uggghhh.....the cover of this made me have such high hopes for this CD. I saved it and saved it for just the right time. Then we opened it, got comfy, slipped the CD into the player, closed our eyes. And instead of relaxation.......we all started screaming and writhing on the ground! Okay, so that didn't happen, but it was really was awful. I don't even remember the words, its just the lady's voice DOES NOT lend to any type of relaxation whatsoever. I feel bad, because she obviously thinks her own voice to be soothing enough to do this type of CD, but no....she's wrong. Do not waste your money on this....there are plenty of other CD's out there that can accomplish teaching you about Shamanism, this is not one. You just can't get past her voice!! Don't give up on Shamanism if this is your first CD! Its not a good representation of what's out there.

I would love to get the words to this CD and re-record it on my own voice for myself.

This CD set will guide the shamanic new comer through various types of journeys. This is a must have for the beginner.

A companion to the CD set will be the book just authored by Sandra. The latest addition, "Awakening to the Spirit World, the Shamanic path of Direct Revelation" is a beginners guide to shamanic journeying. It is coauthored by Hank Wesselman, also a well known writer on Hawaiian shamanism.


If you have always been interested in shamanism and were either not able to take a workshop or did not know where to start then this book is for you. It includes a CD one can use for shamanic journeying or even for meditation. Even the advanced practitioner will enjoy the CD.
