Product Description

(Burseara Graveolens) Palo Santo or "Holy Stick" is a natural wood aromatic incense used for centuries by the Incas and indigenous people of the Andes as a spiritual remedy for purifying and cleansing, as well as to get rid of evil spirits and misfortune. as well as for medicinal purposes. It has a fine citrus aroma with underlying notes of frankincense, its close relative. It is often used by shamans in sacred plant spirit ceremonies. Our Palo Santo is sustainably wild harvested from a reserve in Ecuador from naturally fallen trees and branches that lie dead for 4-10 yrs. before they are harvested. We sell it by weight which translates to 10-15 semi-uniform sticks per package approximately 4 in. long and 1/4 to 1/2 in. diameter.

These sticks are a pretty great alternative to incense - the sticks aren't processed at all, are aesthetically pleasing, have a great smell, & last significantly longer than incense.
Someone in a previous review asked "how do you keep them burning, mine seem to go out after about 10 seconds?"
Well first of all, if you want it to smoke longer, you have to keep it lit and get hotter before you blow it out - that way it'll smoke for longer. That being said, it's not supposed to smoke for the extent of the stick like a piece of incense might when lit. This is, after all, a piece of wood - and it acts accordingly. So while it may not smoke longer than a few minutes if very hot, it will produce A LOT of smoke/scent in that amount of time. The smell is like a cedar honey coconut fireplace - without smelling fake. A relaxing wood fire smell with a twist - very calming.

I've given many of my friends a stick or two and they all reeeally enjoyed them and asked how to get more.

I developed a taste for the fragrance of Palo Santo wood and really grew to like it based on some initial sticks I got from a friend who had purchased it from Shaman's Market

However, I found that the sticks I got (directly rather than through Amazon) were not the same quality. I ended up returning them and getting a refund without any fuss from a very cooperative customer support representative.

This is a problem that Palo Santo has -- they often smell fragrant until you light them up and then they sometimes have this terrible rancid almost burnt rubber smell. I am not sure why this happens sometimes but it is a bummer when it does.

My experience is that often the lighter colored sticks have the best fragrance - it may be possible that we are using up all the best stock and now we are forced to go to lower quality sticks.

Anyway be careful as Palo Santo can be tricky

Lovely scent. I've heard of this product and always wanted to try it. I'm glad I did. I first used it in a bedroom without much ventilation and the smoke alarm went off. (Good to know it works). But I loved the scent it's supposed to be for cleansing the air and getting rid of negativity. But honestly the smell was so enjoyable especially in that horrible winter the Midwest just went through. It reminded me of bon fires and a roaring fireplace. I love that they are ethically harvested and the story behind the wood.I will be purchasing again.

Very nice, subtle aroma. A little hard to keep lit, but you really don't need to burn them long to get the benefits from it

A friend once gave us some Palo Santo Sticks. They were...um...questionable. This batch, however, are squeaky clean and entity-free! They smell so good, I use them as shoe sachets until they're ready to burn!

I ordered these based on a recommendation of a blog I read. I thought they smelled too sweet and too much like church. My boyfriend kept asking if I had burnt plastic.

The item came on time and in the condition they promised, so if you know you like the smell you'll probably like the product. I would not recommend it though.

exceeded all expectations and my friends loved it. My house smelled like an up-scale spa. Not overwhelming, just subtle and inviting.
