I think that every Jewish man and woman would benefit from reading this book. Abraham Twerski is a highly educated psychiatrist/rabbi, who has excellent thoughts about this unfortunate universal problem. He has insightful answers that are helpful no matter whether the reader is orthodox, conservative or reform. He can only raise the consciousness level of all of us, and offer suggestions to both the victim and the perpetrator of spousal abuse.

THis is a good book. Rabbi Twerski discuss the symptoms to watch out for and points out that knowing the symptoms of an abusive spouse will help you nip it in the bud and prevent yourself from becoming a victim, be you male or female.

5.0 out of 5 stars an important book on a difficult topic, January 31, 2011

This review is from: The Shame Borne in Silence: Spouse Abuse in the Jewish Community (Paperback)
Rabbi Dr Twerski briefly and directly addresses the important issues of spouse abuse in the jewish community. he presents good examples and clear definitions. while the book might take a few sittings to get through, as it is quite a heavy read, he is not shy about sharing stories and advice to women, with a marked empathy for complicating factors that affect a woman's decision about whether to stay in an abusive relationship or not, and how to avoid staying in one. This book is a must read for community rabbi's.
