I had the pleasure of reading this hilariously sexy story early, and I devoured it cover to cover. Sivec’s Fool Me Once series has the unique ability of being not nearly enough and deliciously satisfying at the same time. While you are left wanting more, such is the case with ANY good book, no rock is left unturned and all bases are covered. Sometimes you need a break from the drama and the dark, and if you’re in the mood for funny, sexy, and mystery, well, this is most certainly the place for you.

Finally we have come to the last friend, Lorelei, who in my opinion was the most mysterious of them all. Lorelei was reserved, put together in a neat little package, and left in a display case. In short, she needed the proverbial stick pulled from her rear. What we got to see in the last book and more in depth in this one is that was only the persona she put on for the world. It was how she was raised and expected to act, but underneath was just a woman who yearned for the world to take her seriously as she was. Full of heart and sass, we got to witness the spunky lawyer come out of her shell. No pretenses, no walls, no sexy lawyer suits. Well…Dallas was just the man for the job.

We don’t dive too much into Dallas’ past, but we find out as much as we need to know for this story. Just know that he is all Alpha, protective to a fault, headstrong, and mouth-wateringly lick-able. He charges into a situation with the grace of a bull and takes no prisoners. One of my favorite things to read in a book is a love-hate relationship and the delicious buildup made the inevitable collision that much sweeter. Because what love and hate have in spades is passion, and passion was exactly what these two people needed. It overflowed from them through the pages and straight into your loins.

3.5 stars for some light chick-lit from Tara Sivec. Overall, the story was alright and the writing was done well, and I did enjoy it. Since this was the last in the series, it was all leading up to Lorelei and Dallas. We knew this was the one coming and it did seem predictable, but it was fun to get in Lorelei's head. Nothing too dramatic (well, kind of considering this is a series based on Private Investigators, right?), but a short, fun, light read that could be perfect for summer. 3 girls and their men that they have chosen after being rubbed the wrong way by men in their pasts. Comedy ensues and so does the sex. But nothing too extreme. Not too invested in characters, but they are fun and it's fun to see 3 women take charge of their dreams and not depends on men for their happiness, but nice that they do get them in the end.
Not one of my favorite Sivec books, but she still writes them well. Looking for a light fun beach read? This could be it.

One sentence synopsis
Third book in Fool Me Once series features Lorelei and Dallas, two bickering PIs trying to solve a murder while not killing and/or banging each other.

The Good
Kindle Unlimited w/narration so easy to switch reading/listening.
It’s pretty short (136 pgs)
Some funny bits

The Bad
The main relationship doesn’t quite click- I know I was supposed to buy into their repressed attraction, but it felt forced. Lorelei being an attorney, considering my line of work (paralegal), didn’t ring true either. But it didn’t matter because it was all about the investigation, which was fairly standard.

The Bottom Line
For the most part, the book dragged for me and it wasn’t as fun as earlier books in the series.
The second book was the best IMO, if you were going to choose one book to read.

This was a simple book. Maybe because the other two of the series were so similar in plot, everything was expected. If you haven't read the two prior books to this trilogy, you will probably enjoy the book. There are references to the former books, but not so much that you won't make sense of this one. Lorlei and Dallas are fine as main characters and Sivec has been hinting at them getting together since the first book, so nothing in the book was a surprise.

Not my favorite in the series. It was a fun, quick, read but it felt like it was the retelling of the first two books but with different characters. All three books had the same storyline....a strong woman trying to prove that she is capable and a man coming along to aid her. The writing was good (as always) but I was just hoping for more to the story.

LOVE this book!!! Another hit from Tara. Cant wait for more work from you. Your characters are impeccably written, you give each one a piece of your humor and I feel like I am with my girlfriends when I read this series. Work of genius and I can not wait to see what that brain of yours comes up with next. Thanks for another great piece
