Great Music for Social Settings and Solo Roadtrips Too!,

This review is from: Shame (Audio CD)
Rick Monroe has a very unique sound -- and yet is reminiscent of a number of great classic artists/styles. I found the lyrics to be thoughtful and provocative; each song tells a great story. The music varies quite widely and always seems to complement the mood of each particular song's message. There is a tremendous energy throughout the CD which makes you want to dance; it's one of the only CDs I enjoy listening to all the way through.

Rick is definitely a gifted player, singer and songwriter. His songs are finely crafted originals. The music dazzles the senses, intimate and revealing; a pleasing reinvention and meld of familiar genres. The words engage the spirit, undaunted in expressing. I especially delight in "Gypsy Soul","Can I Call You Home" and "Best Damn Woman." No doubt Rick Monroe will make the top charts!

Rick's 2nd CD picks up where the first left off. I enjoy his songs a great deal. He tells a meaningful story rather than trivial cliche' verbage. Its hard to describe Rick's CD, there is such a wide array of songs, but I do know that I enjoy them either one at a time or as a collection.

everything you want in an AC Artist, he really delivers,

Rick Monroe follows his first CD which wore itself out in my car CD player with the second set of great music, hard to believe, even better than his first. It takes you on a deeply personal, emotional ride and doesn't let you down. The critics are right, this singer/songwriter is just months away from major fame. My favorites are: Can I Call You Home; When 1 Becomes Two; and Don't Tell Me. Finally! Someone who can write AND sing! Great Album.
