I recently got a new computer with Windows XP and the game insists it needs Windows 95 (mind you it ran fine on Windows 98). So please be aware that the computer company needs to make an updated version that supports Windows XP.

If you are not a fan of violent video games and need some relaxation with your PC, Shangai is great for you. But, if you have a later version of Windows 95, you'll need a patch.

We have had this game for many years. Our favorite part is the tournament mode my Mom plays a tournament each day and we always look forward to the times we get to play the two player tournament. I have never found any other game that comes close to the fun we have playing this game. My only wish is they come out with an newer version that adds in new one and two player games. This one is two thumbs up!!!!!!!! I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does.

Please be aware that this game will only run on the lowest screen resolution, with 265 colors and 640X800 resolution. If you have a new machine, it simply won't run. I paid for it but can't use it.

I love this game and leave it on my Dell XP computer permanately. You just have to know how to download it. Put it in your CD drive. Click on My Computer. Right click on the drive it's in. Left click on Explore. Right click on SH256. Left click on Explore. Left click on SHSPLASH.EXE. BINGO! It should bring up install directions. Follow them and enjoy. You can take the disk out of your computer and store it away until you are ready to uninstall. Shanghi Great Moments installs even more easily.

Was so excited when I saw the ad for the game...but I have Windows XP and could not figure out how to run the program....any suggestions from anyone? Thanks in advance as I would love to play this favorite again.

This is much better than other versions of Mah Johgg that I've seen. It has fun tile sets from which to choose, each with its own music and cursor style. You can select your background picture from the many available if you want one. Making matches start mini-animations as the tiles disappear. You have four game types, too - or you can choose to play the Tournament, which includes all four. All of these "extras" are optional, though, so you can choose to use them during play or not.
The only drawback to Shanghai is that it's not compatible with my new computer operating system. Make sure you check the system requirements before you buy the game.

I have been searching for this game since I gave mine away after finding that my new computer would not accept it. I now have a laptop that has the setting it needs. I am so happy to have it back. I enjoy the Beijing game the best. I have not seen anything like it since.
