The instructions are pretty much worthless, so it took longer than I expected to assemble it because I didn't do it in the right sequence, and had to disassemble then reassemble. but other than that it's fantastic! Plastic hose reels appear bulky because all the parts are made so thick; this metal one with it's thin diameter tubing is almost invisible. Even so, it's sturdy and not rickety. And the reel is mounted up higher, so you don't have to bend over as much when winding. Plastic ones are not sturdy at all, they tend to "walk" or wobble when you try to drag them behind you because of all the flexing (I used to have to pick up & carry mine). The one I replaced was the cheapest plastic one on sale at Ha**** Fr**** and even it was more expensive than this metal one. Look around at all the metal hose reels on Amazon, to get anything like this of a different brand starts at $90 and goes up from there!! My only criticism is that the manufacturer just throws the parts into the box with no styrofoam, so my reel was slightly bent and the handles had poked holes through side of the box. Also, all the threaded fittings are plastic, and although everything was leak-free on the first try, I would have preferred those parts to be metal for longevity. Oh, and the lead-in hose is TINY, only about 2 feet long, so unless you plan to keep it butted right up against the house under the faucet you'll need to buy a longer one.

For the price it is the best buy out there. Some have had a problem with assembly, but if you take time reviewing the instructions with the parts layed out the instructions are sufficient. Took about an hour to assemble. I am considering purchasing a second reel for the other side of the house. The handle problem that some buyers had appears to been corrected at the factory by them pre-bending the handle so it does not rub against the reel support. This unit sure beats the plastic units out there.

The Shanghai Worth Garden hose reel cart is excellent. The instructions could use some improvement but the product itself is great. I would highly recommend it.

This hose reel is a worthless piece of junk. There is no way it will adequately hold 100 ft. of hose, much less the 200 ft. that the seller claims in their ads. Also, I will never order anything from this seller again. I contacted them about returning the unit and was basically told that I would have to pay all shipping costs (which, by the way, amount to more than the purchase price of the unit !!) and there would be a 20% restocking fee - not impressed with them at all.

So, I now have the unit in my attic taking up space and have purchased a replacement from Tractor Supply.

Purchased on 4/18. Here I am on 6/1 and just back from home depot with a cheapy. The plastic pieces that connect the reel to the hose>up to spicket have already cracked after normal use (maybe 5-7 times) and cause heavy leaking. Tried to find replacement parts that were metal to save the unit but they are just too custom. My suggestion is to look elsewhere.

I bought this cart based on recommendations from others... I did not have any issues assembling the unit, but it hardly had any instructions. When assembling the unit, bolt for the handle did not fit, I guess the tread or the size do not match, so handle is just hanging now. I have to now hold it from spinning... The biggest thing wrong is the plastic elbow for the inlet hose does not screw in correctly when I attach the hose to it. The other day the water was on and the hose just disconnected itself from the plastic elbow spewing water all around for half and hour including inside of my hose, since I had a sliding door opened and the reel sits next to it. Other review are correct also, stating very short length of the inlet hose. I decided to keep the unit, since I already threw out the box it came in. But will not buy this one again.

I bought this thinking that it would do the job but after putting it together and take it for a test spin that I found out the connector to the main water pipe is only have 1/2" opening in diameter which makes it very weak in term of pressurize. The seal is not tight where it connect to the reel. Doesn't matter how much I try to seal it with tape sealer it still leak. Very disappointed!. You need to put lots of weight at the base if you're using a 100ft hose on this thing because trying to reel in without stepping on the base would be impossible.

Con: Lite weight. Ideal for 25ft hose, anything longer hose will be a challenge.

Pros: Well built. Reasonable price.

I needed a new hose cart and was searching for a metal one. There were two listed and this one had a price too good to be true. I ordered both to compare; For the money this is a very good, functional cart. Has lighter duty wheels, but that is the only drawback.

I purchased the cart from DrillSpot through Amazon in April of 2010. This year, the plastic connector between the 2' hose and the cart has started to split and is leaking badly. I'm in the process of trying to obtain a replacement connector but DrillSpot has been no help. They suggested I contact the manufacturer (which is in China, of course) but the web address they gave me was for the importer. So far, no luck in getting a response, so I would caution potential buyers that the plastic connector is by far the weak spot and will render the cart useless.

There is no comparable hose reel I've found for anything less than 3x the price, but it does have some serious flaws that could be deal breakers for a lot of people.

1. Your hose attaches along the axis of the reel and has to turn 90 degrees in a very short space. This is just poor design. It means that unless you have a very light weight hose, it's probably going to kink. My old (cheap) hose kinked in 2 places. If I want to use the reel at all, I'll have to buy one of those 1/2" laundry machine extension hoses. They actually give you one but it's for attaching the reel to the hose bib. Maybe I'll just use a regular hose for that...

2. Everyone has said the instructions are terrible. You can figure things out with some thought.
TIPS: The short bolts are used for attaching the plastic hose connector and plastic crank connector to the center of the reel and they use the flat nuts. (8 short bolts + 8 flat nuts).
The longer bolts & locking nuts are used for attaching the handle and the base (both metal tubing) to the plastic joining pieces. There are no instructions for the wheel & axle install. The axle comes pre-assembled. You have to unassemble it to install it. Just pay attention to the order of the washer and spacers and put them back in the same order as you put it through the wheels and frame.
Hose connector right-angle plastic piece: There are two ways to install this. Only one way will work so that your connection to the hose bib isn't twisted as you turn the reel. Just pay attention to that.

3. The connection hose for connecting to the hose bib is pretty damn short. It barely reached the bib with the reel standing right next to it (it's a high bib).

There's a stainless steel reel on Amazon somewhere that looks like it came from a fire truck.
