From Library Journal
The setting is San Francisco in 1870, when law was the six-gun. Tom Gallatin, hero of The Highbinders, continues his adventures as a fast draw. He dislikes killing but does a lot of it in the cause of retribution and revenge. The story consists mostly of a series of fistfights and gunfights interspersed with conflicts between local whites and Chinese, Tom's rescue of a beautiful Chinese slave girl and her rescue of him from being shanghaied, and a thrilling race in a clipper. All ends well as Tom finds his true niche in San Francisco. For readers who favor fast and violent action. Sister Avila, Acad. of the Holy Angels, Minneapolis
