5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing book, but has a few problems
This was a wonderful book, especially since Shania is my favorite singer. There's one thing I'd like to say though. If you're going to write a biography, you should know how to spell their name!! Shania doesn't spell her real name "Eileen", she spells it," Eilleen" !!!!!! Also, she was 22 when her parents were killed. It was on November 1, 1987,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing bio of an intriguing woman
As an avid fan of Twain's, I was eager to find out more about her than the average photo op magazine interview reveals. Alas, much of this book consists of quotes from such interviews with Williams' own opinions and interpretations (and dramatic attempts to tie things to the lyrics of her not-so-deep songs) thrown in. Precious little is actually revealed about her...

Shania doesn't spell her real name "Eileen", she spells it," Eilleen" !!!!!! Also, she was 22 when her parents were killed. It was on November 1, 1987, and she had been 22 for 2 months. She wasn't 21, so get it right!!

I have read every possible book on Shania Twain.. This one is the best I have read. It really tells the story where the story needs to be told. Once I picked it up to read, I could not put it down until I finished. If you love Shania, You'll love this book.

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Shania Twain: On My Way (Paperback)
As an avid fan of Twain's, I was eager to find out more about her than the average photo op magazine interview reveals. Alas, much of this book consists of quotes from such interviews with Williams' own opinions and interpretations (and dramatic attempts to tie things to the lyrics of her not-so-deep songs) thrown in. Precious little is actually revealed about her underprivileged childhood. There are some fresh things for American audiences concerning the squabble over Shania's Native American heritage, mostly culled from Canadian newspaper reports. Williams' doesn't hide any of her tendencies to revise history and form a public image, but he does make excuses for and even dismiss them. Twain is accurately portrayed as a fearless survivor and a savvy businesswoman who openly acknowledges that she's working the system but this much I already knew. There's a driven quality to Shania that he doesn't explore. The photos are, of course, beautiful, but none are private and few are from the past. If Williams had conducted some interviews of his own rather than relied on second-hand material, this would have been a much better book. My only praise for 'On My Way' is that it compiles interviews one may have missed elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for an exceptional artist, December 1, 1997
This review is from: Shania Twain: On My Way (Paperback)
Dallas Williams takes an intimate look into the life of one of the biggest singer/songwriters in the world. From her humble beginnings, the death of her parents, her trip to Nashville and finding the man of her dreams, this book takes you through it all. Her cinderella story is presented after obvious exceptional research, making this a good book all around.
