Good book, but don't buy it., August 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Shaolin Chin Na: The Seizing Art of Kung-Fu (Yang Jwing Ming) (Paperback)
This book is decently written and has lots of good information; however, there is a lot that is left out. Also, the pictures could use arrows to demonstrate the moves better. The author has written two other more recent books on the subject which greatly improve on the first. Buy one of those.

A good guide, but..., July 5, 2001
This review is from: Shaolin Chin Na: The Seizing Art of Kung-Fu (Yang Jwing Ming) (Paperback)
This book has been more or less replaced by other books written by Dr. Yang. Comprehensive Analysis of Chin Na or Instructor's Manual for Chin Na would be better purchases. These are the books that Dr. Yang uses as a guide in his seminars.

Excellent for those with basic knowledge of these moves., January 16, 1998

Those best served by this book will be those who have had some chin na/grappling experience. To learn these moves ONLY from the book could prove difficult, but not impossible. There is an excellent video companion to this book.

Chin NA NA NA NA, November 12, 2011
This review is from: Shaolin Chin Na: The Seizing Art of Kung-Fu (Yang Jwing Ming) (Paperback)
I have always have had a thing for joint locking But this book lacked and exceeded in a strangely pleasant way. What I was wanting was a book that went into detail on Chin Na applications and a little info on what it would do... I didn't get that though. I got something just as good though. The book does have a fair amount of applications, the details on how they are done, and the effects from them.....plus... the book has detailed Accupressure charts with their effects and how to apply them in more than just joint locks and pressure strikes but also a small amount of details in self healing. Not a bad trade off, but still not what I wanted. The book didn't disappont but it didn't feel my need to learn more locks from the best chinese system with joint lock. Average book, great features.
