Eagle Han's mantis vs drunken pole, need I say more?, January 14, 2008
Eagle Han Ying plays his usual role as an evil government official, and he is looking for a golden seal. There is a subplot where Buddhists and Taoists hold a contest to see who has the best fighter, and the winner will keep the seal safe. The Buddhists win, and each side trains a pupil for their next contest. When they have their duel, ninjas steal the golden seal and the 2 pupils are sent to get it back.
I enjoyed this movie very much. There is an evil monk, a funny drunken monk, and ninjas. There are plenty of fights, and the finale doesn't disappoint. The story is good, and so is the kung fu. Excellent kicking, punching and acrobatic skills on display. Eagle Han doesn't do any fighting until the end, and he puts on one heck of a performance in the 9 minute final fight.
3.5/5
The version I have is widescreen with decent picture quality. The main reason I am writing this review is to let people know that Rarescope is releasing this movie soon in a 2-pack with Shaolin vs Ninja (a cheesy Robert Tai movie with awesome fight scenes).
Rarescope Double Feature Shaolin vs. Ninja & Shaolin vs. Tai Chi

Tai Chi and Shaolin, a deadly combo, May 23, 2001
Eagle Han plays a ming lord planning to bring down shaolin temple and rule china. Two young students one from shaolin and another a student of tai chi join forces to stop him before it's too late. The two young men find out that they have more in common then they ever imagined before, and that they were more closely connected to the Evil killer then they would ever have wanted. Breath taking fight scenes, Great Drunken staff showcased, and some great Tai chi kung fu aswell. Eagle Han is again a great villian. Gotta see this one.
