5.0 out of 5 stars Enhanced for the student of Egyptology with appendices, March 10, 2001
This review is from: The Shape of the Great Pyramid (Paperback)
In The Shape Of The Great Pyramid, Roger Herz-Fischler draws upon twenty years of exhaustive, scholarly research to survey and examine the various theories proposed to explain the shape and dimensions of the Great Pyramid of Egypt. Archaeological evidence and ancient Egyptian mathematical texts are discussed, placing the theories in their proper historical context. Among the issues examined are the close links of some of the pyramid theories with other theories, such as the theory of evolution, and the struggle against the introduction of the metric system. Of special interest is the section examining how some theories spread whereas others were rejected. Enhanced for the student of Egyptology with appendices, detailed endnotes, and an exhaustive bibliography, The Shape Of The Great Pyramid is also an ideal and highly recommended introduction to the subject for the non-specialist general reader.
