I was looking for some simple exercises I could do at home or in a hotel room with focus on specific body areas that I knew needed work. After reading a bunch of reviews of other similar books... and there are a lot of them... I decided to try this one. I'm quite pleased.

If you have a tablet I recommend the Kindle edition for several reasons, not the least of which is that it is significantly cheaper! It is also handy to lay it on the floor next to me and to be able to bookmark the workout I want. Also, as stated in other reviews, the paper edition does not have a page reference from the index to the exercises. The Kindle edition has hot links so that is not a problem.

While it is short, there is a good selection of different exercises for each area of the body... sufficient that if one is too difficult or boring or not suitable for the space you are in... another can be used.

While many exercises are shown using tubing, I have found that most can also be done with bands even though tubing is shown. Many do require anchor points. The illustrations show one way of doing this. (I do not suggest using door handles.). There are several inexpensive door anchor straps available here on Amazon that can be used for bands or tubing. The instructions with those show how best to use them.

(1) It's a booklet, not really a book. 44 pages plus an index.
(2) When I hear the term "resistance bands" I think of the flat exercise bands, which you can take anywhere to do your workout. Of the thirty exercises presented, only eight use flat bands. The rest use tubes with handles, and most of those must be secured to a strong, stationary surface, such as certain types of door handles. I could find absolutely nothing in my apartment that I could use for this purpose, leaving me with only thirteen or fourteen exercises. I would think that many other people would have the same problem.
(3) The descriptions and photos are fairly clear.

If you have some way to secure the handle bands you may be happy with this product, but I expected more exercises I could actually do.

Walking is my exercise of preference, but although this exercises the legs and glutes, it does nothing for the rest of the body. I bought this book as I have a strong lower body and weak arms and core. This is causing me lower back problems. The resistance band allows me to build strength in my arms, back and shoulders and, more importantly, my core. The core is notoriously hard to exercise without using some type of aid and the resistance band is perfect for this.

There are 30 exercises included and a choice of 10 minute, 20 minute or 30 minute routines. Of course you can always configure your own. The beauty of the exercises is that you can target every part of your body without leaving home. No more expensive gym memberships!

The back of the book has a useful index sorted in body areas which lets you pick your exercises according to the body part you want to target. Very useful.

There are also bonus workout soundtracks which are a great motivator and help power you through the exercises!

I recently picked up this book because a friend of mine showed me how I could workout with resistance bands. I am totally new to this idea and since I like the idea and love the whole workout ritual with these resistance bands I found out about this Get in Shape with Resistance Band Training book on Kindle. I picked it up immediately and I am very happy that I did. This book gives me all the basics and the framework that I need in order to get started with my training the right way. I am looking forward to continue with this exercise workout because this whole program totally makes sense to me. Thanks for the awesome insights and hope you are writing more books on this topic because you got a fan for life.

I've never tried to use resistance bands before but after doing a few exercises here, i find that they're my favorite. I don't have to carry anything because my body is my weight. I think with a few more tries, my body will become more toned and sexy.

Good book. 'Root'ing the band is tricky but I'm getting there!
