Invincible "Shapeshifters"- 5 Stars,
By Shaun Borowski (Buffalo, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shapeshifters (Audio CD)
...Just when I thought nothing else that I've never heard of was going to crack the top 3 of 2008, or when I thought that nothing made by a female could be better than the new Jean Grae album, I discovered this album. Invincible sounds like what would happen if One Be Lo and Jean Grae were fused together (to me, anyways). In both flow and lyrical material. Everything about her delivery sounds perfected, as if she's been working on it for 20 years. She speaks intellectually about a plethora of topics throughout the album. This is probably the best lyrical material of the year, by any artist. I can't say enough about how good it is. But I'll stop, and move to the production, which matches the lyrics bar for bar. The production lineup includes Black Milk, Labtechs, Apex, Belief, and some others. The guests are as follows: Abeer, buff 1, SUN, PL, Finale, Anomolies, Wordsworth, Indeed, wsg Gwen Mingo, and Ron Scott. Normally, this many guest appearances means only one thing: bad news. Not this time. Every guest on the album does more than needed to keep the rating of this album perfect. If you haven't heard this album yet, you need to. Samples are not even necessary, it's that good. This is going to be a tough album to beat out for the number 1 spot of the year.
You can buy this album at [...]. It's more than worth it. Go pick this up!! Lyrics- 10/10 Production- 10/10 Guest Appearances- 10/10 Overall Sound- 10/10 5 -Shaun B.

Love Invincible's stuff!,

Bottom line: if you like Jean Grae, you'll like this lady. I was at an Immortal Technique show in Detroit and they played a cut from the Shapeshifters album and dropped her name. Glad they did. This lady has good beats, tight lyrics in most of the songs, and a great voice for rapping. That she's a conscientious community activist is just icing on the cake. My understanding is that she was born in Israel, raised in Ann Arbor and now resides in Detroit. Great hip hop. 4.5 stars. Cop it.

This was an awesome album.,

Just wanted to add that this album was pretty perfect. Every song is dope, great beats, and no filler content whatsoever. Her mic skills and taste in beats are dead on, and the Finale verses are all outstanding, too.
