this is the perfect book for my 10 month old daughter. she loves to turn the pages (which are very sturdy but don't have sharp edges) and to touch
all the cut-outs with their different textures. I also recommend the other little scholar books: colors, alphabet and numbers. the colors and numbers books are her favorites but whatever you do, don't get the circles one.

My 18-month-old son likes it. We bought it because we have Peek A Zoo from the same series and that book was the very first book he ever showed interest in. I thought this would be bigger like that one, but it's about the size of a standard board book, maybe a little larger. There is one shape per page, and you can also touch and feel some of the pictures and name the colors. Good for shape recognition and learning colors.

I bought this when my twins were maybe 6 months old. The large, simple pictures and larger areas of textures made it one of their favorites. We also had the Scholastic 'Colors' book, which was equally popular.

We can see how much our little 8 month old responds to the colors, simple shapes and textures. Good size to fit in diaper bag or purse, too. I wouldn't hesitate to give as a gift.
