I was immediately pulled into this gripping tale set in WW1 during the zeppelin air raids in London. Breathing new life into Jack the Ripper, Yeates is able to create a terrfying narrative that the reader won't want to put down. Using a blend of nightmares come to life with the real life trauma that so often is the plight of the poor in any society, Yeates delves into the motivations behind every character, not just the ones who are "good". No one is safe from their own worst fears in the world that he created.

After reading G.R. Yeates Eyes of the Dead and Shapes in the Mist I can honestly say Yeates has a freakishly twisted and disturbing mind. Shapes in the Mist had me squirming in my seat. I often found myself putting down the book so I could digest the vivid and disturbing pictures created. I would definatly recommend this book for anyone wanting to have insomnia for a few days. I typically don't read horror but Yeates always leaves me wanting more.

That's some messed up stuff, Maynard. This book was very well done. It was well-paced for a book with so many character's and getting to see inside their minds. I highly recommend this book!
