Shaping Sanctuary is a collection of justice-oriented worship resources including essays, sermons, liturgies and hymns gathered from ten denominations. A diversity of voices and a study guide make this an effective tool for those exploring a theology that affirms the diversity of human sexuality and the worship implications of God's incarnation in the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you wanted to know about Liturgy by and for G/L/B, July 12, 2001

In this collection of Sermons, essays, liturgies and ideas for inclusive participation by Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual and Transgendered people Editor Kelly Turney has struck a goldmine!

What a refreshing joy to find all of these resources gathered into one cover. I was taking a class in Liturgy and Music for my seminary training and the material availble for this constituancy is sadly lacking. This book helps to address that problem. Numerous prayers, confessions, calls to worship, affirmations, benedictions and congregational responses for welcoming communities are presented in a thoughful and logical layout. I can't say enough about the depth of topics and liturgical situations that can be gleaned from this resource. Buy it - you won't regret it!

This is a terrific achievement--a gathering of affirming, inclusive, and uplifting pieces. Whether you use this as an individual morning meditation, or insert one of these Responsive Readings into your church bulletin next Sunday, I think you'll be warmed by the grace of these writings. Look for the book's songs with colorful, welcoming lyrics too....that you can hum on your own, or join in with friends in a round, or have the church choir sing together. This is a rich and welcome resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shaping Sanctuary: What a wonderful contribution!, November 2, 2000
By
This review is from: Shaping Sanctuary: Proclaiming God's Grace in an Inclusive Church (Paperback)
This book is full of incredible resources that will be used to Shape Sactuary for all God's Children. If the act of worship is a statement of faith then the very use of this incredible resource has the potential to re-build and re-imagine the household of God. The contents of this volume will challenge and inspire you! This resource does a wonderful job of putting words (biblical words in many cases) to a call for justice that desperately needs to be sounded.
