Michael Dix steps out of the shell of bureaucratic masking and provides a clear and honest picture of the strengths and flaws in the American system of protecting children. He describes Shara's saga with compassion and integrity, Shara's uniqueness is that she is not unique in her quest to find safety and love from her family and the social systems guiding them. We are fortunate that Shara had the foresight to share her story with Michael; and even more fortunate that Michael had the courage to share her story with us.

This book is in your face, intense and true to the words written by Mr. James Dix. I couldn't put the book down. The horrors of our children, who are put in the Foster Care System, by no means of their own, and their voices never heard. Mr. Dix puts his heart and soul, experience and knowledge down in this book and is worth reading.

As I perused the pages of this accounting of Shara's life, the telling of this girl's story made a tremendous impact on the way I previously viewed children services system. Shara's story is an eye-opening accounting of what can go wrong and what atually went wrong with the "system". Michael Dix did a great job in portraying the system for what it is. I applaud Michael's research and the energy he put into bringing to the public's attention the true facts of what one might encounter during his/her lifetime. Michael, you authored a wonderful book!
