2.0 out of 5 stars Shards of the Mind
Having read the previous book, flaws and all, I had hopes the sequel would be better. However, I was very disappointed. I never really understood why the Wicca aspects were included, as well as the importance of the cats and their mischief. The religions were very muddled, and I couldn't understand the significance of it's many aspects. The "wedding" of the other female...

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies!, August 19, 2008
This review is from: Shards of the Mind (Paperback)
Although Thea didn't ask to be taken from the only home she had ever known and transported to a futuristic world in order to breed children, she has to admit that her husbands, Kyrin and Daeshen fill her life with love. Months ago after being kidnapped by an evil force and left for dead, Thea is still healing from the emotional pain and hurt that the attack caused. Now, just when things are starting to get back to normal, little things begin happening that are unexplained. In addition, Thea experiences animosity not just from the unknown but from members of her husbands' families.

Kyrin and Daeshen love Thea and each other. Having been together as a couple long before they acquired Thea, the men know when things are bothering the other. Unexplained hostility from their families aside, they know that the only way they can make Thea happy - and as such make their marriage happy - is to help Thea face her demons. Trying to gain back Thea's trust, her husbands hatch a plan - a plan that only includes rope and her compliance.

I fully enjoyed the first installment of this futuristic series and had no doubts that I would take as much pleasure in SHARDS OF THE MIND. Thea is a strong heroine who has to fight very hard to overcome post traumatic stress. Lucky for her she has two men who want her healthy and whole. Their love and devotion is more than apparent on each written page. SHARDS OF THE MIND enticed me with the publisher's blurb and thoroughly satisfied me with such a well written story. I can't wait to see what Theolyn Boese releases next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shards of the Mind- A Joyfully Recommended Title, September 16, 2008
This review is from: Shards of the Mind (Paperback)
It has been a few months since Thea Conner was attacked. She is still having trouble coming to terms with what happened to her. The ship she is on is headed for the Ta'e'sha world and she'll have to prepare herself for the trial.

During the trip to the home world, mischief is happening all over the ship and Kyrin and his crew can't figure out what is going on. Thea has an idea, but she is distracted by making a marriage veil for Sya'tia, her best friend on the ship.

Will Sya'tia accept the proposal from Thea, Kyrin, and Daeshen? Will Theadora be able to make it through the trial? Can Kyrin and Daeshen distract her enough to overcome her fears? Will the humans be accepted on the Ta'e'shan home world?

Shards of the Mind is INCREDIBLE! As a follow up to Daughters of Terra, Shards of the Mind is superb and almost out shines Daughters of Terra. Theolyn Boese has outdone herself. I had no trouble falling back into her world of myth and legend. Ms. Boese has another winner on her hands with Shards of the Mind. The only problem I have is the wait for the next book in the series! I loved Shards of the Mind so much that I am Joyfully Recommending it!

Having read the previous book, flaws and all, I had hopes the sequel would be better. However, I was very disappointed. I never really understood why the Wicca aspects were included, as well as the importance of the cats and their mischief. The religions were very muddled, and I couldn't understand the significance of it's many aspects. The "wedding" of the other female to their group, and Thea's feelings towards Sya'tia, were a little confusing, as well. She claimed not to be gay or bisexual, but they seemed to enjoy their intimacy more on that level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazed, April 1, 2009
This review is from: Shards of the Mind (Paperback)
I have to take my hat off to Ms. Boese she did what i have always wanted an writer to do she picked up where she left off in the first book. This book is the follow up to The Daughters Of Terra which was a great book. In this book we get to see exactly where we are and they stay on the main characters from the first book. She didn't just touch base she really wrote the second half of the first story and I loved every minute of it. I simply loved it. Oh and the sex once again hot!! with a great plot.

3.0 out of 5 stars What A Sequel?, November 12, 2008
This review is from: Shards of the Mind (Paperback)
This is the sequel to Daughters of Terra even though the first book was wonderfully delicious, this one leaves me a little disappointed. Call me selfish but I wished the author could have left it at two guys and a girl. Overall if you do not have anything else to do and nothings on television, it's an ok read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hated it!, November 29, 2011

This review is from: Shards of the Mind (Paperback)
Even though the first book in this series left something to be desired I still thought the story was different engaging. I thought the author would begin to flesh out the series in "Shards" but I was doomed to disappointment. This book was awful! As other readers have commented, certain aspects just made no sense whatsoever i.e. the use of Wicca; how the animal familiars caused trouble but the affects of the trouble on the crew population as a whole never played out; and worst of all was the ridiculous idea of Thea implanting the life essence of a dead woman and carrying the fetus to term to give to another woman!!! What???? I am so sorry I wasted my money on this book. If the opportunity arisess to find it at the library, borrow it, or trade it online then I encourage readers to do so. I will not be reading any further works by Ms. Boese!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed, October 4, 2011
I read the first book in the Daughters of Terra series and really enjoyed it. So, I was very excited to read this next installment. What a letdown! I had to struggle through the entire book. Thea became very unlikable and rather annoying. I completely don't understand why the author would spend what felt like an eternity telling the reader all of the names and personalities of a bunch of cats and birds and skip over all of the parts of the story that would have made it interesting. The story was a complete let down compared to the first one. I thought I had found a new author to look forward to, but now I am thinking the first book was a fluke.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Read, June 5, 2011
I think the first book in this series was the best but this novel was also a great novel. That's the only reason why I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars. I love Ms. Boese's clarity in writing where she creates believable characters that your heart will get attached to. The trials that Thea has to go through in getting to know her mates and their families seem daunting but you can always cheer for her. She's a very strong character that can't be pushed around but doesn't come off like a b---- like in some other novels and because of that I am looking forward to reading more of Ms. Boese's work.

Love it love it love it love it! This book is jammed packed full of a couple of ultra-sexy men (well...sorta-men, anyway), neither of whom have a sexually-reticent bone in thier bodies. There's an abduction (them of her) and some almost-forced sexual adventuring. All of that is mixed in with a bunch of really caring gestures, tender moments, and homey touches. (What a great mix all that is, hmmm?) Contained within these pages are the love and laughter and contentment that so many of us need, want and demand in our happily-ever-after endings.

This book has it all:
Strongly-drawn and interesting characters. Detailed world-building. Swirls and loops of fairy-tales-come-true. Blistering hot sex, too, as well as passion and love and romance, in all its possible MWM permutations.

IMHO, this is a truly _excellent_ example of the best of the paranormal erotic fiction genre.

This book was just as good as the first in the series The characters are very memorable and the plot is riveting. The sex scenes were sizzling and very imaginative. I could not book the book down once I started reading and hated when I got to the end. I can't wait for the next installment.
